Just as I was begining to think you made a lot of sense in your posts and were a guy I was looking forward to meeting
You choose DD over KK.
Shame on you!!!
;-))))
Yup, I get that 'just when I was starting to think' a LOT! guess I should stop while I am ahead LOL Its the chocolate huney dipped man, they rank right up there with boobies as a weakness of mine
The 1000 mile trip I start on Thursday.........I have every DD mapped out along I-75 LOL

You're young and thin - you haven't been corrupted by the Doughnut World yet. :P
Krispy Kremes are the best glazed doughnut hands down.
HOWEVER (and this will probably get my "Gonzo's Girlfriend" card revoked), there are times when nothing hits home like a Dunkin Donuts Bavarian Cream, a chocolate honey dipped, or the original "dunkin" doughnut (the only three I like from there).
But if given a choice, I'd ALWAYS pick Krispy Kreme when the "Hot Doughnuts Now" light is on.

Why am I suddenly reminded of the movie "Van Wilder"?
I love Krispy Kremes ... but like Starbucks Coffee and Coors Beer (back in the days when it wasn't available west of Kansas), it doesn't live up to the hype. Donuts is something I know about - although my doctor suggests that perhaps I need to know 30 pounds less about them.
They do last longer than DD if you eat them cold ... although 15 seconds in the microwave and they're both pretty damn good up to about 3 days.
Frankly, the best donuts are almost always from a Mom & Pop donut shop or bakery. Both KK & DD have excellent quality control systems (DD really slipped for a long time, but have come back very strong in the last 3 years), so if you are a person who likes factory food, they are an excellent choice.

"Factory food" just sounds so unappetizing. Good phrase if you want to stop eating something I suppose!
I find DD to be heavy, and KK to be light. I like KK better; less dough.
Now if you wanna switch the comparison to pizza - the more dough, the better! Pizza hut pan chicken supreme, baby!

Best pizza is usually going to be a local joint.
But if you wanna stick strictly with the big delivery chains:
Domino's -- They've forgotten more about pizza delivery than most of the competitors will ever know. And they still make a good pizza. They also have EXCELLENT buffalo wings believe it or not. Wish they had online ordering.
Pizza Hut -- Used to be too greasy, but they're making a come back. Their pan pizza is back to being quite yummy after being a bit of a slider for years. I've tried it twice in the last few months and was pleasantly surprised. Nice online ordering system too.
Papa Johns -- Maybe it's just my local store, but they've been going downhill for the past couple of years. I no longer order them.
The best pizza I've found in the Atlanta area is Mellow Mushroom. I had the first one when I visited my Dad in 1977 in Sandy Springs, moved here a year later and STILL think they make the best.
**Disclaimer** Even though I went there every other month for over a year, I've never had pizza in NY, so note I said it's the best in the ATLANTA area. :P
I picked Dunkin - but probably only because that's the kind I grew up with and loved as a kid (those angel creams were my fave!)... Krispy just tastes WAY too sweet for me and I almost always get a stomach ache after even a 1/2 of one.
Pizza.... the best I ever had was a little place up in the Bay Area - Blondie's Pizza... it was a gourmet, wheat/parmesan crust with honey BBQ chicken, mushrooms & red onions. I've never had another pizza quite as good.
Fast food pizza - i.e. Pizza Hut, Domino's, Papa John's, Round Table - none of it is ever really any good.... homemade, Giant NY Pizza @ the beach in San Diego or Blondie's (if I ever get back up to the Bay) will always be my fave.
Mmmmm, doughnuts to pizza, this thread is going to calorie hell in a handbasket!
I will stand by Krispy Kreme to my death. Try the filled doughnut and the chocolate glazed next time. You can be sure they will be fresh instead of Duncan's half day old variety.
For pizza I will have to say the best local NY pizza is a place called 2 Boots here in the city. Absofuckingloutly incredible.
I wish we had a Papa John's because they are the best of the chains to me.
But no pizza beats real Chicago pizza in Chicago. to have a Pizzaria Uno's or Giordano's deep dish pizza is a life changing experience. A slice of that is a real meal.
'You cannot do better than this pizza. I have lived 1000 miles from Joe Peeps for nearly 7 years now and I still dream longingly of it. One day I shall return .... and eat again.'
Originally posted by Peaches@Nov 24 2003, 06:19 PM We have one pizza place in town and they don't deliver (and the pizza's not too great either).
Palermo Pizza is two blocks from me.
The pizza is okay (I don't think there's quite enough sauce), but that famous Italian family that runs it - the Singh family - makes some of the best Curry I ever had. Whatacountry ...
I feel the same way about pizza as I do about donuts - the best are small places. Happy Joes and Pizza Hut are my favorite mass produced pizzas; Dominos and Papa Johns are too greasy.

i cant live where there isnt anything.
i consider myself very lucky to live to close to world famous eateries and hot spots.
I already lived there for 30+ years (Atlanta). Been there, done that, happy to be where I can breath the air, see the stars, not have ANY traffic, never lock my doors, trust contractors, eat fresh fruit and vegetables sold from the actual farm and not have to look at another neighbor.
And 100's of restaurants, plays, movies, major airport, stores etc. is no more than 90 minutes away.
Why would eating food next to a photo of a celebrity be something to cherish?
Now eating food *with* a celebrity and getting to share conversation with 'em... that'd be cool.

My god, man - put away the paranoia pills and join in the conversation. You know... conversation - discussion of a topic where the people participating may very well have different experiences and opinions than you?

Exactly. My girlfriend's daughter in law says coming up here in spring or summer reminds her of "Children of the Corn." Heavy traffic around here is four pickups following an Amish buggy.
I'm three hours from St. Louis, four from Chicago. I can get enough of what passes for culture in a weekend whenever I feel like it. I loved living in the city, but got very tired of it; and I wouldn't live in the 'burbs if you paid me.
I’m just a son of a son, son of a son
Son of a son of a sailor
The sea’s in my veins, my tradition remains
I’m just glad I don’t live in a trailer

Im used to it now, so I dont even really reply.
I think you have a crush on me to be honest.

The other day I found myself complaining about "traffic" because I was behind 5 cars waiting to get onto the square in town (and this was "rush hour", hehehe). Of course, we have a "roundabout" now and most people (me included) are clueless on when to go so that causes the huge "backup".
