Duncan over sweet light and flaky Krispy Kremes? You should be ashamed!

but the poll is getting embarrassing LOL spaz |
am i the only one that cant remember ever trying Duncan or Krispy ??
|
Heard of these before but have never had a doughnut from either.

Krispy Kremes are the best glazed doughnut hands down. HOWEVER (and this will probably get my "Gonzo's Girlfriend" card revoked), there are times when nothing hits home like a Dunkin Donuts Bavarian Cream, a chocolate honey dipped, or the original "dunkin" doughnut (the only three I like from there). But if given a choice, I'd ALWAYS pick Krispy Kreme when the "Hot Doughnuts Now" light is on. :rokk: |
I can't compare them. They don't have a Krispy Kreme around here that I know of.
|
What!??!
Tim Horton isn't a choice!?! |
Screw the tree bark; but I do make my own doughnuts... :nyanya:
I prefer them after a certain TV report I saw. You wouldn't believe what they were doing to those poor doughnuts... Ever hear the epithet, "Take a flyin' fuck at a rolling doughnut!"? :wankit: |
Late at night at Wal-Mart, I go to the bakery and fill the doughnuts with creme then put the holes in the others. ;-))

I have a DD less than 1/4 mile away, so that place gets to fill most of my intense "carbohydrate" desires.
DD's taste like crap though after about 1/2 a day. Krispy's last longer for some reason. Krispys also give me a tummy ache if I eat too many of them. DD's never do. Fresh out of the oven, Krispys are great, but DD's are incredible to the pallete. DD's are larger and you get more dough for your money. The coffee at DD is the best around. I like it even more than Starbucks. Krispy's is too strong. DD gets my vote, with Krispy's in a close 2nd. |
I love Krispy Kremes ... but like Starbucks Coffee and Coors Beer (back in the days when it wasn't available west of Kansas), it doesn't live up to the hype. Donuts is something I know about - although my doctor suggests that perhaps I need to know 30 pounds less about them.
They do last longer than DD if you eat them cold ... although 15 seconds in the microwave and they're both pretty damn good up to about 3 days. Frankly, the best donuts are almost always from a Mom & Pop donut shop or bakery. Both KK & DD have excellent quality control systems (DD really slipped for a long time, but have come back very strong in the last 3 years), so if you are a person who likes factory food, they are an excellent choice. |
"Factory food" just sounds so unappetizing. Good phrase if you want to stop eating something I suppose!
I find DD to be heavy, and KK to be light. I like KK better; less dough. Now if you wanna switch the comparison to pizza - the more dough, the better! Pizza hut pan chicken supreme, baby! |

But if you wanna stick strictly with the big delivery chains: Domino's -- They've forgotten more about pizza delivery than most of the competitors will ever know. And they still make a good pizza. They also have EXCELLENT buffalo wings believe it or not. Wish they had online ordering. Pizza Hut -- Used to be too greasy, but they're making a come back. Their pan pizza is back to being quite yummy after being a bit of a slider for years. I've tried it twice in the last few months and was pleasantly surprised. Nice online ordering system too. Papa Johns -- Maybe it's just my local store, but they've been going downhill for the past couple of years. I no longer order them. |

Occasionally, I'll order Domino's just cause they deliver faster than anyone. But I've never found anyplace that makes as incredible a pizza as the Pizzaria right next to Penn State's campus. OMG, I'll never forget the taste of that when we made our late night runs for it in the wintery cold. They used cheese freshly made locally, which was out of this world. In the dorm's you could always find someone there with a fresh pie and that heavenly smell. Ahhhhhhhhh. Some pleasures in life you just never forget. |
The best pizza I've found in the Atlanta area is Mellow Mushroom. I had the first one when I visited my Dad in 1977 in Sandy Springs, moved here a year later and STILL think they make the best.
**Disclaimer** Even though I went there every other month for over a year, I've never had pizza in NY, so note I said it's the best in the ATLANTA area. :P |
From donuts to pizza - lol
I picked Dunkin - but probably only because that's the kind I grew up with and loved as a kid (those angel creams were my fave!)... Krispy just tastes WAY too sweet for me and I almost always get a stomach ache after even a 1/2 of one. :( Pizza.... the best I ever had was a little place up in the Bay Area - Blondie's Pizza... it was a gourmet, wheat/parmesan crust with honey BBQ chicken, mushrooms & red onions. I've never had another pizza quite as good. Fast food pizza - i.e. Pizza Hut, Domino's, Papa John's, Round Table - none of it is ever really any good.... homemade, Giant NY Pizza @ the beach in San Diego or Blondie's (if I ever get back up to the Bay) will always be my fave. :bdance: |

Mmmmm, doughnuts to pizza, this thread is going to calorie hell in a handbasket!
I will stand by Krispy Kreme to my death. Try the filled doughnut and the chocolate glazed next time. You can be sure they will be fresh instead of Duncan's half day old variety. For pizza I will have to say the best local NY pizza is a place called 2 Boots here in the city. Absofuckingloutly incredible. I wish we had a Papa John's because they are the best of the chains to me. But no pizza beats real Chicago pizza in Chicago. to have a Pizzaria Uno's or Giordano's deep dish pizza is a life changing experience. A slice of that is a real meal. http://www.carlsontravel.com/Magazin...ages/Pizza.gif http://ferentinospizza.com/a/home-pizza.jpg |
Pizza Unos or Duos (if Unos is full, and it usually is) are both excellent.
Basically a quiche, really. But nobody from Chicago will admit it. LOL |

Elvis loved Krispy Kreme.
Who can deny the King? http://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/stor...ewscolumn1.html :okthumb: |
Fast food pizza sucks.
There is nothing better than a real pizza from a little mom and pop shop. |

theres a small place here that says even their water is flown in from the east coast, and all the products are from their east coast store. where they call it a pie. mmmmm. as for krispy kreme though, i hadnt had that stuff till i moved here. might as well sit around and east spoon fulls of sugar. hahahah |
The pizza hut delivery guy should be here within 15 minutes.
I ordered extra wings so you guys can have some :awinky: |
KRL, FatPad: check it.
these fucks brag about pizza online. 'You cannot do better than this pizza. I have lived 1000 miles from Joe Peeps for nearly 7 years now and I still dream longingly of it. One day I shall return .... and eat again.' http://www.epinions.com/rest-review-74D0-4...-39F7A9B8-prod1 Joe Peeps rocks. I even know a band that named themselves after their pizza by the slice price. http://www.bluecollarspecial.com gotta love local punk rock! |
Whats awesome about Joe Peeps too.
The walls are covered in Sharpie Marker writing for decades of abuse. When you go in, you can get a sharpie and write whatever you weant on the wall. Lots of killer things there. few places can be as good though. Its the atmosphere and attitutde along with the killer pie that makes it special. look it up if youre in the area!~ Joe Peeps 12460 Magnolia Blvd., NoHo (818) 506-4133 Last edited by Fletch XXX at Nov 24 2003, 01:36 PM |

Mmm.. pizza.
pizza hut isn't pizza.. it's something completely different. Pizza's are supposed to have a thin dough and plenty of toppings. |
We have one pizza place in town and they don't deliver (and the pizza's not too great either). :(
|
this is what keeps me here.
i cant live where there isnt anything. i consider myself very lucky to live to close to world famous eateries and hot spots. whats weird though is when you go in all the cool eateries here you see all the autograph pics of the celebs who eat there. nothing cooler than slamming a beer and a slice next to a pic of Burt Reynolds in the booth youre getting full in. good ole Burt, wish I could mimmick that laugh, id do it now. :stout: Last edited by Fletch XXX at Nov 24 2003, 03:29 PM |

The pizza is okay (I don't think there's quite enough sauce), but that famous Italian family that runs it - the Singh family - makes some of the best Curry I ever had. Whatacountry ... I feel the same way about pizza as I do about donuts - the best are small places. Happy Joes and Pizza Hut are my favorite mass produced pizzas; Dominos and Papa Johns are too greasy. |

And 100's of restaurants, plays, movies, major airport, stores etc. is no more than 90 minutes away. B) |
Why would eating food next to a photo of a celebrity be something to cherish?
Now eating food *with* a celebrity and getting to share conversation with 'em... that'd be cool. |
woah, i am surrounded by pecking hens!
|
all i did was drop an opinion on having a slice of pizza and look what it does.
hahaha |
Why are you so obssessed with assuming that every reply to you is some sort of a nit-picking attack on your opinions?
My god, man - put away the paranoia pills and join in the conversation. You know... conversation - discussion of a topic where the people participating may very well have different experiences and opinions than you? |

Exactly. My girlfriend's daughter in law says coming up here in spring or summer reminds her of "Children of the Corn." :D Heavy traffic around here is four pickups following an Amish buggy. I'm three hours from St. Louis, four from Chicago. I can get enough of what passes for culture in a weekend whenever I feel like it. I loved living in the city, but got very tired of it; and I wouldn't live in the 'burbs if you paid me. I’m just a son of a son, son of a son Son of a son of a sailor The sea’s in my veins, my tradition remains I’m just glad I don’t live in a trailer |

I ask you a question about a comment you made, therefore I am tearing you apart? I also reply to Peaches far more than I reply to you - so sorry, by your measurements I must have a crush on her. Instead of saying, ah fletch that must be a cool place to eat.' you respond negatively. matter of fact the only POSITIVE comments youve ever made to me were when the fires were here, telling me to leave. I ALWAYS look for NEGATIVITY in posts before I answer. So anyhow, you go dream about eating pizza with stars, ill be glad I am with good friends and enjoy eating at cool places.
