is http working slow too? are pages on that server slow?

Nope, them seem o.k.

if it is only ftp it maybe ftp server on that box is overloaded or being attacked.

your host may have said it is ok but they may have not checked ftp server software. tell them to reboot the box or ftp service.

It's not my host, its a box for someone I do work for, so I havent spoken directly to the host. But they did get the problem looked into when I told them.

I will talk to them again about it though, it's been 4 days now.

Other people can get into that box o.k, that's what been pissing me off from day 1.

This may or may not help at all... Have you tried toggling on/off PASV for this FTP connection?

Yep tried that, same result.. a speedy 0.26kb upload.
