I 'm not really sure about these things,
but if I can upload fine to a number of different servers, but can't upload or get really slow speeds 0.26kb sec from just one, can the problem still be my end? The host of the server is saying everything's fine their end. |
If everything is fine for the other servers I cant see how the problem is at your end..
What ftp program are you using? |

I managed to get in lastnight and upload at normal speed, then this morning, wouldn't even connect, then I got through with speeds of 0.26kb, and finally got through with the right speed and was able to upload. The host is saying things are fine and other people have got in o.k.. seems to be just me. |
Strange, if you were uploading fine last night and you've changed none of your settings then I really can't see how the problem is on your end...

Since your ISP is fine in general it could simply be a route between your ISP and that provider or an actual problem with that host.
The best way to determine the problem is by doing a traceroute to the troubled FTP host and watching the results. Try the following: Start > Run Type cmd Then press ok. Then type this command: tracert (place the problem FTP or domain/IP, ect) And press enter. Good Luck! |

O.k tried that, went through o.k.. tested it to another ftp server I know is working fine was much faster, looks like the problem maybe paris.teleglobe.net is slow on the first one, and the second one routes a different way.. Bloody French.. it's always their fault. and when it isn't it should be. :agrin: |

Short answer is the problem isn't on either end, it's somewhere inbetween usually when that is happening.
Some sort of routing issue is either causing packet loss or you're having to bounce halfway around the planet 3 times just to get to your destination due to a fubar router somewhere between yourself and that particular host. These things usually clear themselves up in a matter of hours. |

But they're looking into it, so its's just a wait and see.. |
Try toggling passive mode off if it is on or on if it is off.

Sounds kinky, but will do. thx :biglaugh: |
It's only kinky if you wear a chicken outfit complete with feathers while doing your FTPing.
|
paris.teleglobe.net enough said LOL
joking couple of things. is http working slow too? are pages on that server slow? if it is only ftp it maybe ftp server on that box is overloaded or being attacked. your host may have said it is ok but they may have not checked ftp server software. tell them to reboot the box or ftp service. hope this helps. |
Timofonica :)
|
This may or may not help at all... Have you tried toggling on/off PASV for this FTP connection?
