For a week because Eric Clapton was playing on TV and she said "Who is that old lame guy playing guitar"

I said..."Whaaaaaat!"



She has also been grounded for saying "Ray Charles sucks"

And "What music did Paul McCartney write , he really sucks"

On another note if I ever became a father I swear if I had a daughter she would hate me for life cause I can't imagine me being remotely nice to any of her boyfriends. <_< I'm a very laid back person but I think that would turn me into a major league asshole.

When you're 12, if you (very secretly) like whatever your parents are
listening to and want to know who it is, you can't admit that out loud.

My dad used to make my dates do work for him before we were allowed to even leave the house.

Here's a great idea for punishment. Play your music non stop on the drive in the RV on your trip you have planned this summer. My dad also did that to me on our family vactaion from hell when I was 13. But then I upped the stakes and sulked the entire trip and refused to speak to him the whole time.

I went road trips of country music hell. To this day country music makes me have motion sickness.

These days I mostly listen to trance, dance, and house.

For oldies I'll do Nina Hagen, The Plasmatics, Grace Jones, Marianne Faithful, never really cared for rock and roll.

Rock and roll is folk music.

Folks play it.

Some folks like it. Others don't. Some like dis and don't like dat.

The reason I seldom read "literature" about rock is because the authors take the subject (and, usually, themselves) way too damned seriously.

I really wan't that impressed with much of anything the Beatles did after Rubber Soul. About the same time of Sgt. Pepper I discovered the Mothers, the Doors, the Dead, Airplane, Zepplin, Fleetwood Mac before they let the girls in, and the blues. Have always been as much a folk fan as a rock fan, so the so-called country rock was a natural for me, and got interested in bluegrass on account of the Dirt Band.

In order to piss off my father all I had to do is grow hair. In a lame (and failed) attempt to piss me off, my oldest daughter and her boyfriend cut off half her hair and dyed the rest of it purple. Tried to freak me out with punk rock, I hit her with Velvet Underground. Tried to get to me with rap, I hit her with The Last Poets.

Like the man said,

Hot funk, cool punk, even if it's old junk
It's the next phase, new wave, dance craze, anyways
Everybody's talkin' 'bout the new sound
Funny, but it's still rock and roll to me.

Oh ... and by the way. At the time of Sgt. Peppers I could fuck to it. I could also fuck to Elvis (before the Army, at least), Frank and Deano, Motown, a dripping faucet, the sound of windshield wipers (vacuum powered, of course), the first Sesame Street album (only once, while she was babysitting her sister), or the sounds of silence - either literal, or the song.
