Epic Cash dimwits - Cross posted

Sorry for the cross-posting, but I'm mad as hell as how I have been treated by Epic Cash and want to warn other webmasters.

I recently found a neat-looking site I was considering promoting as an affiliate, because many of my members have emailed me with great interest in the type of niche content it has, so why not send them somewhere where I can get a cut?

When I went to see the tour of this Epic Cash site, I was hit with 10 pop-ups when I left. Aside from the age-old pop debate, I think anything more than a single pop-up on exit is flat out rude. It pisses off surfers, they're not going to come back to that site, and it only adds to the perception that porn sites are deceptive, spammy, and trap you in pop-up hell, which hurts all adult webmasters.

I emailed Trey at Epic Cash to let him know, politely, that I would not be promoting their site because of this "bad etiquette". No rants, no flames, no cussin'. He emailed back to ask me to promote it without consoles, to which I replied that it's a principle, and I simply don't promote anything as "discourteous" as sending a surfer into a pop-up loop. Trey wrote back:

Yeah, like that's going to win me over to promote Epic Cash. This childish, immature response is possibly the tackiest I have ever personally gotten, and I want to spread the word of how I was talked to when I non-aggressively shared my concerns with Epic Cash.

Sounds like he ran out of his drug addict perscription for his Vegas cocktails.
He orders his oxy and his vic online and then has a doctors appointment everyday so he can get more. So when your a confirmed drug addict and convict you care little about running a business or anything else other than "GIMME MY PILLS!!!"

Everybody on Oprano knows how classy Trey is. Thats why the addict is banned here. Even Pattyecakes couldnt stand working with him more than a few months.

Make no mistake about it Trey only wants the cash to buy his latest stash...if you not helping the drug addict get his fix then you can be cast aside.

Why would you email someone to tell them you will not be doing business with them? That does not make much sense.

I can understand maybe to ask if he had a popup free option for affiliates. But that sounds like a waste of time to me.

Fletch: Yes, I posted this on 5 boards besides this one. I seriously doubt this kind of attention is going to get Epic Cash any more business, so I'm willing to take that risk of giving them "free promo".

As to adult webmaster ethics, to each her/his own. I stick with my principles of not promoting or linking to crappy sites or sites that hurt all adult webmasters (pop-up hells, sites with fruadulent rebill practices, or password forums). I've been successfully running my main site for almost 2 years now (how many other amateurs fold within months?), and have been explanding to new projects, so what I'm doing must work for me. I'm not trying to force anyone to change anything, I just don't do business with them.

Pop up consoles are a thing of the past nonetheless.... if you think Im kidding go read one of the 5 threads Brad has whining begging pleading ANYBODY to tell him how to scam past SP2.

Times getting tight...boy is chasing people around for bogus advertising cash and talking about splitting a booth in Vegas....why hell hes already looking for his retirement home.

Gots to move where the cost of living is cheaper so he can afford that Ferrarri lease.

It's a very valid point. I suppose in the long run, I could idealize that sites with customer-unfriendly practices would eventually have to change or go out of business, and that other webmasters wouldn't promote them. (But I doubt that's going to happen. Visa seem to be doing more to cull sites that webmaster self-regulation.)

On another level, I would be interested in hearing from a potential affiliate why they decided to not promote me. I might not change my site to suit them, but if I got a number of comlaints over the same issue, I would realzie I was losing potential revenue and likely try to remedy the issue. Criticism is very useful in building a good site, IMO.

Oddly enough, I emailed Media when I first signed up and asked for a console-free option and got a polite reply that it was taken care of...

so, how difficult is that?
to actually email someone and say "I'm not going to promote you", why? just don't promote them...if you've already told them via email you aren't going to promote them then you're not an affiliate and they aren't really going to care...

while I don't always agree with pimpdog or his posts, his program kicks major ass, he converts well and he's one of the few sponsors with a sploshing site that actyually seems to know what the fuck the niche is realy about (same with the strap-on site).

So, get over your rage about his consoles (especially after you've requested them to be turned off for your traffic) and make yourself some money or try and actually find a program that even has a strapon site, muchless knows how to sell the niche....

there are a lot of program owners I don't like and would never trust with my children, but I'll send them traffic as long as it makes me money....goddess knows I'm wasted more than enough time being friendly and having nothing to show for it ;-)

I dont understand the attitude of emailing a site owner just to demand something and call them "discourteous" for popping popups?

SykkBoy: I see what you're saying, but that's the thing: I don't want to promote a site that throws 10 pop-ups at surfers, because it's bad for all of us when any any site uses tactics like that and scares people away from surfing porn. It's that "principles" thing, just like I wouldn't promote "penis enlarging pills" even if they are profitable.

Fletch: I hate to used tacky hippie lingo, but think of it in terms of say, a boycott. You know, where people are opposed to something by principal and tell company X they won't buy their products until they stop dumping nuclear waste on whales or whatnot. I can accept an exit pop here and there- Nina Knows Best is my best converting affiliate, and the site has an exit popup. Don't try to get all dramatic- it doesn't keep me up at night or make me cry, I just think it's dumb.

cherrylula: I suppose we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one. It's not about getting them to turn off consoles for me, because consoles and other junk effect the net porn business as a whole.
