cmon, tell me what the fuck is your problem. does it have to do something with choice poker? do they owe you money? did you find spyware on your computer? did you????? you know I post and am mod at oprano poker. but you have to try to be slick and make a scene at j-b-m and try to knock me down when I wasn't looking.

fuck you and if it is true that choice poker did install spyware, let me see the fuckin proof. If it is true then I'll refund EVERY players APT money account right now, and I will close down APT . I have no access or knowledge to this (alleged)spyware you read on a post from a bonus whore at a poker board. I would not condone such a thing and I would never be a part of that if it was true.

can any tech guy help me out here and see if choice poker has spyware on it.please?

I don't know what his deal is, it's something deeper than a post he read at a poker board

Two days ago my machine was bogging down like crazy even after restarts. I kept checking the task manager (ctrl-alt-del) and kept finding cpoker.exe listed in there even though I didn't have it open.

It wasn't in my startup file anywhere, don't know what was making it happen.

I just fired up apt and choice for a minute and shut them down, and checked my task manager - no cpoker.exe.
So I don't know what the deal was the other day; maybe something just got hung up in memory and wouldn't close properly. This might be what KC was seeing (haven't seen his other post).
Just for clarification, I do NOT think it has anything to do with spyware.

Well, thats what you get for posting on Weasel's board...........

J/k....

I know of no adware that came in my install of choice poker. But I did that install back when you first started the the whole poker thing around here.

If there is adware wrapped into the install package, probably the easiest way to find out would be to

1. Find a clean computer (I use an old machine that I wipe out completely and do a clean OS install whenever I am investigating, but any machine that you are fairly sure does not have any malware/adware installed will do)

2. Run Spybot and Hijack This (and any other spyware/malware detectors you know of) against the machine to see what is installed. Hijackthis will give a complete printout of all the different programs installed, browser helpers, registry keys, pretty much everything.

3. Do the choice poker install

4. Run Spybot and Hijack This again to see exactl what changes were made and what nasties might be in the install package.

If you have access to the actual programmers that put together the install pack, ask them to check and make sure that the current download package is their package and has not been tampered with. If in doubt, ask for a newly compiled version.

Other than that, I am not sure what else you can do to guarantee that the installer is clean at this point.

Once you know you have a clean install package. Make note of the date/time of he file and the filesize. Run it through a CRC computation and note the CRC. Then put together a script to make sure at download time that the install package has not changed, that it has the same date/time stamp, file size and CRC.

I just read the "other" thread and then hopped over to 2+2 and read that one - and there is one thing I agree on.
One person mentioned that they started getting slammed with worm emails within the hour of installing Choice.
This is also my experience, but it took more like 24 hours. I hadn't had one worm email to that address previously (it was my home addy @ cox) and these emails specifically had choice poker words in their subject and/or message. There was always a zip or .exe file attached.
I was getting like 3 a day.

I don't have that address anymore, but I just looked and I do still have ONE of the emails (don't know why I didn't throw it away). It's coming from choice_poker@yahoo.com, the subject says "hello", the message itself says "here, the serials", and there's an attached mails.zip file.

Here's the headers:
Return-Path:

Just a note, if you start digging into this and decide you want to change backend software for APT, I *really* like the Pokeroo/Poker Stars interface (Pokeroo has done some interesting background-change ability stuff with it and has the mini-table screen, but Pokerstars has 4-color decks and Pokeroo doesn't), and I also really like the Jetset Poker interface as well (ranks shown in tourneys, smileys, nice clean interface).
Since Pokeroo is just starting up and still in beta you could probably swing some type of association with them pretty easily.

Just as long as you don't go with the Prima software (7Sultans, CaptainCooks, Vegas Villa etc)... gawd what a resource hog that is, and it takes up the entire freaking screen with no way to resize it.

lololol... Thanx Carrie But I don't need them. That sounds like a Netsky, (mydoom competitor) variant

http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyc...e=WORM_NETSKY.B

So, my guess would be that whoevers mailbox is being used as a repository for the confirmation emails is infected with the worm and does not know it.

So, the solution is to find out who that is.

The confirmation is probably being generated by the server with a copy going to someone's email box. If the server is linux, then it can be ruled out as being infected. If the server is NT or 2000, it could be infected (if the server is NT or 2000 I highly reccomend it being moved to Apache on Linux immediately as in yesterday or sooner).

Whomever is being copied on the email going out ends up with the email addy in their local box. Worms can scan the local box and sends to anyone it finds (btw, it also scans temp files and internet temporary files for addys to mail to, not just the email boxes. So it can extract email addresses from html stored in the temporary files). It then makes up a fake send address and mails using it's own engine, so a lot of the email scanners don't catch it going out from the box, since they are attaching themselves to a mailbox and not necessarilly to port 25.

So MasterP, if you are getting copied on teh confirmation emails, run a virus scanner and make sure you are clean. If there are others that get a copy, have them check their machines.

Carrie , i'm am looking at all the poker sofeware sites out there as we speak. I'm not looking to change, just looking to branch out outside of adult as well. pokeroo was my first choice 5 months ago before I even started. they still need work out the kinks. It's a whole new industry with ways to go yet. when people say poker, first thing that comes to mind is gamblimg. When I hear poker, I think industry market tool to the next level.

All I know is you're somehow affiliated with Choice poker.. and IF it was downloading spyware and shit then it should be discussed. If not, then put it to rest and I'll never post about it again.
KC,
you are an expert on counters...

can you enlighten us with your expertise and tell us what spywares can be bundled with them?

...if you don't know the answer, would you recomend Bama and his expertise?
