Well, I read the thread as well and I thought it was kind of dumb for brad to post the list and drag WEG into it. Do people not know how to use phones anymore? Seems to me that the whole deal was kind of shady from the start but I have gotten burned on email lists before as well. I live in a glass house though so I shall cast no stones.

Thread withstanding...I find it very hard to believe that T would allow that kind of bullshit to go out on his network.
And I know firsthand the kinda of shit storm any list...intentional or unintentional brings to anyone doing any kind of hosting.
T is way too smart to risk his upstreams from catching 40-11 levels of hell of complaints and whining raised by ANY list.
However stranger things have happened.
It took me and the boys a year to learn our lesson on this kind of crap.
We found its a lot easier to deal with mainstream clients and their shit than
fucking Spammers.
They all end up hosing you for the hosting in the end anyhow.

Lensman, or one of his gofers, took down the pictures that Brad Shaw bought for $50 of Easton (alledgedly doing coke). Then Brad supplied the controversial mailing list which KB sold him. I think it is quite acceptable to bring your dirty laundry to the boards if you have tried in good faith to resolve the issue to no avail in person or off the boards.

Forest, lets not take what you read on lukes site to be fact. There is A LOT more to this story that I can not go into at this point. But, lets just say that Zimm and I have no issues are are working together on this issue. When the full story comes out after a few folks sign a few papers, it will be very interesting to see where this all lands. Some people are going to be very surprised, and in the end I will have my $17k back.

Forest, I see you are trying to find the *email list* that we have heard so much about on GFY. I looked away for a second, and it disappeared. I learned a long time ago if you see something interesting or important on the internet, grab it, because when you return, it will be gone. That is also my philosophy regarding shopping. Buy that dress now, and if you have second thoughts, you can always return it.

Forest, I have no use for the list. I want to see it because I have heard so much about it. In '95, I knew many who used lists. But, I received very little, if any spam during those days. Now, I daily receive enough spam to wallpaper my entire house, along with worms, viruses, and weird attachments. I was hit by the blaster worm and something called dameware which is used by hackers to enter your computer and cause you misery. I could easily play the Kathy Bates role in "Misery" if James Caan had hacked my computer. Give me those whips, knives, and guns!
Confucy Babee, the list is compressed in a zip and is is 52 megs, its not something one can send in email, its HUGE.................it has to be downloaded from a server sweetie.

That WEG list is 2 years old. WEG has no problem with me, I speak to them almost daily. So why try to stir shit where it does not exist?
The reason I took down the list is NOT because WEG asked me to, it is because someone pointed out to me, that the last thing we need is 100 amateur gfy spamers like yourself.
Imagine all the folks that have bought it the last couple of months, Brad is being vocal imagine those that are being quiet about it. You can't tell me that if that list is 2 years old WEG just realized it was their list being sold off a milion times.

Brad, what happened with KB? Did he return the $1,000 to you that he made by selling you the list? Why would you bother spending $17,000 for a list from KB when he didn't tell you all the details? I thought you were too smart to bother with a list.
I have known many webmasters who have spent large amounts of money for lists. I have never known one who benefited from them. Anybody have good results from spamming email lists? What results would be viewed as a success?

No way are to many people going to talk about "purchasing" lists Confucy because they do not want folks to think they spam..problem is spam still works and it takes some sophistication to run this operation.
If I were buying a list how could somebody prove to me they were double opt in vs stolen or harvested etc....
Very risky business to say the least but if done right it can be quite $$$$$$ profitable.
