See I think this is where adult fails. Affiliates are not the end all be all, they are part of the chain. 70 percent of the sale for life, that doesnt leave poor Lisa much for her expenses.One thing I learned working in mainstreaming signing up affiliates, they didnt give the house away to the affiliate. The biggest amazon aff and the smallest make the same percentage. That's because amazon knows the exact cost of what they do and how the aff commission fits into that. When adult its more of a wing it style. lol
And because the cost in affiliates in adult got so out of control, they are now being pushed out. My free cams he doesnt have an affiliate program, he buys traffic. In the long run its probably alot cheap because its not a partnership for life on that sale.

Payout is 70% only if you can send 50+ joins a month, otherwise it's the usual 50%.

I'm sure you'd agree that buying traffic for a cam site is a far different proposition from buying traffic for a solo model paysite. A properly managed affiliate program can actually enhance a sites own internally generated traffic. All part of the bigger picture. An affiliate program should never be the sole source of traffic, but there's still plenty of room in this market for it to be profitable for both site owner and affiliate.

Anyone who has bought pay per click traffic knows that you are taking an inherent risk in this manner, because if it doesn't sell, you make nothing.

50% affiliate programs are a reasonable way to go. It balances the risk of sending traffic for the affiliate with the risk of not converting for the program. You work together to obtain the same goal (sales and long term members), instead of working against each other.

Flat pay (pay per signup) programs work in an adversarial way. The program bets they can keep the person longer, and the affiliate worries only about the immediate sell, regardless of what they have to promise in promotion to make it happen. The goals of the affiliate and the program don't match.

PPC ads? Same deal - the objective is to get the most clicks for the affiliate, regardless of the outcome. The programs goal is to create advertising that isn't clicked by anyone who isn't a serious buyer. You are not working together.

Lisa has it figured out. It is easier and more lucrative to crowd source your traffic then it is to spend your time on it directly. It isn't that you shouldn't ALSO work your own traffic sources, but wide distribution and exposure comes with an affiliate system.
