My Basic Profile :

I operate a small promotions biz out of Montreal and Vancouver providing girls,branded shirts,photos and other simlar publicity related products and services to companies attending adult industry shows.

Looking forward to posting some fun pics,getting involved in debates and generally trying to become a positive member here.(thats the plan)

I learned a lot in my first year from advice given to me by some great industry old timers.

1. Never to listen to second hand rumours,
2. l was also told the more work l did the more unhappy some competitors would become and drama would follow.
3. To mind my own business and not get involved with other peoples issues.
4. Dont let people bait you into a fight, save the energy for making $$$$.
5. Stay friendly,relax,work hard and enjoy the experience.

Not sure where these old timers are you speak of...Ive been doing this since 93 and Carol and Danny around 94 and both of us before that on dial up. I havent spoke to you maybe they did but Im sure it was some poser that is now making promises of BAGS OF MONEY FLOATING UP ON THE SHORE....SON!

I hope they didnt give you the talk about "it was a cheap lesson they needed to learn" or how its acceptable to "fuck the surfer".

Heres a few DOS Tips

1 Anyone that uses the surname "honest" online usually isnt.
2. If your going to throw a party make sure that you can afford it.
3. Time reveals all.

Those "old timers" are full of shit.
Online a secondhand rumor ends up revealing itself in time. Plenty of examples of that on here.

Ive worked for the same clent almost 5 years. No one is unhappy and there hasnt been any drama there.

Those same old timers probably used to make a fine liviing out of piss until people like Visa or the FTC got in their grill.

No need to do much of anything except be honest. Everything else will work itself out.

We've actually never met Claire here in Montreal as we tend to stay away from most of the people in the industry here. Unfortunately, Montreal is just chock full of self-proclaimed "Adult Internet Gurus" who make very little money and have little knowledge, but love to pretend to be "Playas". We do have some very good people here, but like us, they stay away from the BS and keep their knowledge close to the vest.

I see some of the people that I know locally, posting on other webmaster forums. They talk like they know everything and are making a load of cash. I always get such a chuckle as I know these people, and I know they are barely making ends meet. But that has always been the nature of our industry. 1% are truly successful but it's the other 99% who try to pretend they are

And how's that working out for you?

Seeing as how I've been making money off of adult online ventures for over 20 years now, I would say most of what is an old timer to you is a noob to me.

So I'll leave you with one single tidbit to add to your collection:

your reputation is your business, protect it as such.
