No specific comment about Jay, but I will say that generally the file sharing / tube style sites seem to only make money when they jam their page full of links to unrelated products. The obvious implication is that these sites tend to do a piss poor job of selling the content at hand, and are using it as nothing more than a "free shrimp cocktail" to get you to buy an expensive dinner in a crappy restaurant.

I would say that 80% of all tube sites make their money on unrelated sales (if they make any money at all, that is another story). The rest are making money on "free" signups that cross sale $100+ of shit onto the poor surfer, making the boys at Cresent look like amateurs.

I really am having a difficult time with this. I mean, if people spent as much time getting together and working on a solution to the problem, instead of spending it on cock wars bitching about the problem... can you imagine the ideas that could come out of it? The only true innovation has to come from the content producers and copyright holders. They have to start working on jealously guarding their rights on their content, and not allowing any fool to use it any way they like. I know it would be hard to control the torrents that are hiding in friendly jurisdictions, but it isn't hard to send a DMCA to google and get their SERPS pulled. The content owners need to take action.

Sadly, too many of the tube sites appear to be operated directly (or indirectly) by programs that are more than happy to fuck each other over, fighting for the table scraps of the feast they have spoiled. At least they are all still bros, stand up, top notch guys.

Anyone seen anything from Deecash recently? They seem to have gone mostly into hiding.

I think they are licking their wounds in silence...in checking a few of their sites, it seems the prechecked cross sales are now above the submit button. Something was said on their board about it, but no response from any of the reps.

Word is that a number of non-US acquiring banks were fined by Visa, who in turn passed those fines on to the offending merchants. No word on exactly who those merchants were, but the timing on the movement of those cross sales may not be a coincidence.
