Georgia town spends $1 million to buy Cafe Risque to Shut It Down

Georgia- A northeast Georgia small town voted earlier this week to spend $1 million to buy the Cafe Risque so they could shut the strip club down.

The announcement of the decision by the mayor was met with a standing ovation. City crews had a bonfire of the clubs sign and advertisements at the club site.

The town of Lavonia could have spent the money paying off bonds for a water treatment facility upgrade, but instead wanted to eliminate the adult entertainment venue they have fought for years.

Yay! and I'm moving to Georgia... This makes my feel good... (Insert Sarcasm). This is a perfect example of small town or, should I say "Small church" thinking. At least with the crappy water they will be able to get to their god faster.

I think it is the right way to do things, if you ask me.

No court precedents, no high faluting lawyers. You don't like it, buy it out and shut it down.

That's exactly what I thought. Obviously if the place is in business then there's demand do he could open one not far away and just be $1,000,000 richer.

Funny when you think about it... The people that bought it and burned it are probably the same people that patronized it. Maybe they wanted to help him get funds to upgrade his facilities...
