What's with all the webmasters who claim to have started in '96 or '97 that I've never heard of? I guess it's possible. Maybe a lot of people just finding the boards for the first time?

I believe it is some of each. Some where just not known until more recently, some are full of shit.
Sponsors are another good one for this, paying webmasters since 96 is on a hell of a lot more programs than were in existence. August 97 for my start |

in 97 I was tearing buildings down, and exporting containers of wood to Japan!
Bought my first computer in around april or may of 2002 around November of 2002 was my entrance into adult online arena. first hit GFY ( my first board, told was the best place to start LOL) in around april or may of 2003 First convention was Jan 2003 internext. |

Those were the golden days, I would KILL to go back to 1996, fresh out of high School. Al Hadhazy paying me $.02 per click and I made $300 or so a week and I thought I was GOD, lol!!!!
That was until I followed in Serge's footsteps for a while and click brokered and got my first check for $5,000.00 from ScottPB 4 months or so out of high school  Colin, Serge, get a couple others, and we should put a "Prove you were around in 96-97" Quiz None of this easy Multiple Choice Shit, 500 questions... An essay describing the changes over the years, LOL J/K - Would be interesting though for a simple quiz to see how many claim they go back way than that would 'pass'  First Question, what was COTAC and who was John? And what does COTAC have to do with something else I already mentioned in this post

We (Maxcash) did something like this a while ago - gave away some cash to the first person to answer all 10 questions correctly.

As far as I remember there were no webmaster boards in mid 1996, maybe program webmaster boards if even that. Other than that, if there were I don't remember visiting them off hand. I believe it was 1997 when webmaster boards startng popping up in droves... YNOT being the first one I remember spending time at. Than again, just because I didn't see them doesn't mean they weren't there ... |

my first website wasnt really a website more a sharing of information between a network of army computers to save data from being destroyed in case they got attacked in one location was in the 80's sometime although im not allowed to talk more about it due to national security .. pssh to the 90's webmasters

Wll, mine is easy... Noga drug me to my first convention in Orlando in '97. I bought my first domain shortly after...Pornpuppy.com We did the first show (Web Expo) in June '98. The first Peoples Chocie awards were a ball - no politics. We had Miss USA there & Asia Carrera.

late-98 early 99 here. I remember Serge's revolt and exit to Condom quite well.
Shit, I'd wish I knew what I knew now in the late 80's/early 90's and Usenet was the internet and bbs was big. i would have made a killing then
