Man, oh man. What is going on with the Kerry campaign? Less than two months until the election and Bush's lead is up to double digits among likely voters. In the latest Gallup poll Bush leads Kerry 55-42% among likely voters and 52-44% among registered voters.
Kerry is going to need the "luck" of the electoral count.

don't you know by now...
when Bush is up in the polls, it's because the pollsters skewed the polling to favor Republicans.. and the results "don't matter". Only when Kerry is up do they truly matter, and are worthy of at least 687 threads celebrating the victory. at least that's how it is on GFY. |

Colin, the Gallup pole is but a number. Because of the electoral college stuff, the numbers in pure percentage is moot. Remember, Gore had more overall votes... and you know who won.
I think the "poll tracker" things that look at each state give a much better indication of what is going on, and I think that will show much closer. Alex

I'm not saying "Bush will win". Not by any means. This is a close election when you look at the electoral picture. I'm only pointing out that despite many of those who thought Bush would fade away or even that he was fading away - his campaign has been the much better one down the stretch. Bush has "momentum", not Kerry. Could it be reversed? Sure. But for now, what he have is Bush taking a stronger and stronger lead down the home stretch. The biggest blow of this election was the Bush campaign painting Kerry as a "flip/flopper". There's been nothing on either side nearly as effective. So again .. I didn't mean anything like Bush is running away with it .. but rather, the Bush campaign is outwitting the Kerry campaign and quite strongly since the campaign season began. Kerry's campaign reminds me of Bush I's re-election campaign. Bush's reminds me of the Texas campaign for governor. Rove "gets it".

I think the election will be won or lost with the debates..........
There are a lot of "leaners" out there. They think they know who they are going to vote for - but want more info to be certain. |

Sharpie, I was going to say the same thing. Bush is not a great speaker and could lose all his momentum if he screws up in the debates...
Uh, fool me once, shame on you... Fool me twice... uh... we don't get fooled again. |

This is exactly what Bush wants to get out to people - that he is the underdog in the debates, that he will stumble and not perform well.... Bush has always been underrated, this is one of his strengths.... he sneaks up on people. They set the bar low, when he easily gets over he looks better. Kerry will have a hard time beating Bush in the debates because of the expectations will be much higher for Kerry. |

Gore was considered a great speaker and a debater
but lost 2 of 3 debates to Bush Mike is right Bush's team does set the bar low for him on purpose just to surprise everyone with a strong performance. Its kinda like wallstreet. Only if Bush stutters, stumbles, loses his mind, has a brain fart and Kerry hits a homerun, is the only way Kerry can come out ahead after debates.
