Krispy Kreme plans low-sugar doughnut

http://www.cnn.com/2004/HEALTH/03/12/krisp...e.ap/index.html

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (AP) -- Hot. Now. Healthy?

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, long known for its high-calorie treats, says it plans to offer a low-sugar doughnut to attract dieters and diabetics.

Exactly how low the sugar content would be was unclear Thursday.

Krispy Kreme spokeswoman Amy Hughes said she didn't know because the new doughnut is still in the early stages of development. It is set to debut before the end of 2004.

But just one of Krispy Kreme's Hot Original Glazed doughnuts has 10 grams of sugar and 200 calories. More than half those calories come from fat -- 12 grams of it.

Krispy Kreme lover Clint Beaver said that while a low-sugar doughnut is a good idea, he doubted he would give up on the original glazed variety.

"As for me, I'll die eating the fattening doughnuts," said Beaver, a student at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

One of his med-school friends, Nathan Painter, found the whole idea of a low-calorie doughnut strange. "It just seems odd they're trying to be healthy," he said.

Still, he said, he would give one a try.

The idea of offering a low-sugar doughnut isn't new for Krispy Kreme.

"We've been looking at this for some time," Hughes said.

Now all I need is a fur coat

Never has the pleasure of a warm from the oven Krispy Kreme but

Wouldn't a low-sugar doughnut go against the whole concept???

Don't be surprised if FGCF chapters get up in arms about this

For diabetics, it would be the only way they can truly feast upon a Krispy Kreme. I don't think the FFN and the FGCF's would get upset over sharing their joy of the "Hot Doughnuts NOW" sign

My first reaction to this was it is just as stupid as when Mickey D's threatened to change their french fry recipe last year. And I still think Ray Kroc is spinning in his grave over what they've done to McD's in recent years.

Yes, America is much more health conscious. But no one goes to Mickey D's looking for a healthy meal, they go there either to feed their kids or have something fast and familiar. It's comfort food...dont fuck with it.

Know your role!

In this case, if KK is just adding something new and not planning to try to change their image or dink with what brought 'em to the dance, I'll reserve judgement. I'm guessing this is a splenda doughnut....might be ok.

Hell Puppy, I agree. If you want healthy low-fat, low-
sugar, low-cal food, don't go to a donut shop or
McDonalds. Buying a hamburger without a bun...
what a joke!

Nobody has to worry about dropping dead from
an occasional Big Mac or Krispy Kreme glazed
donut.

Plus, diabetics must be just as concerned about fat
content as sugar content. If they were to get off
their fat butts and exercise and eat their fruits
and veggies, they could indulge in the fast food
yummies.

Take up cooking! There are some delicious recipes
which are fat-free and sugar-free which can be made
at home in minutes.

Peaches, use some self control. Get out those pots
and pans and make your own donuts, and stop
sending your son to the local fast food restaurants.

Serge, you said you didn't censor. I would never
leave Oprano. I just got tired of fighting for my
life. Gonzo and others are bringing up subjects
which are off limits for me. I have a TRO on my
head.

It is damn difficult not to respond to the shit that
Gonzo and the gang throw in my face.

Would I leave you, furball? Not unless you asked me

Gonzo, let's be honest with each other.

When I was in your Oprano Radio chatroom, I didn't say a word until Nick started busting my ass. I responded nicely compared to the nasty crap he was dishing out. Show the transcript. Let the people know the truth. When Nick settled down, I remained quiet and behaved myself. Why would I want to disrupt your show? I wish you well, and CJ is one of my favorite people so I hope you work out the sound problems so I can hear her.

You sent me the personal message. I responded. I have always liked Oprano. When did you join? I was here the first week Serge & Mike opened the Oprano Board. There are some outstanding boards. Thank God, because I was very loyal to Netpond, and I felt a little lost when Aga told me to leave.

Gonzo, I know you are against censorship. Make us all proud and get this damn Oprano Radio off the ground. Get someone to help you with the sound problems. Get out there and kick some ass on radio like you do on the Oprano Board.

I was honest...I said you behaved and confessed your undying love for Oprano.

Let me straighten you out on the "sound problems" its not going to get much better. CJ is in fucking Australia...I think its pretty spiffy the way we have the voice over Ip working to begin with.

As I stated and it wasnt a joke or a lie. This stuff is running with the following:

1. The good graces of AEBN. The provide the server, the pipe, and some of the technical assistance. This deal was an agreement between that company and this board. They are allowing us a server and whatever pipe we eat and thats it. Thanks again AEBN!

2. I got a sound mixer, a couple of mics, some cans [headphones] and a shit load of patch cables wiring together shit all over my home office. Not the office downtown my personal space. Ive taken one of my shitty NT boxes at the downtown office and we use it for a Voice over IP server. Thats it!

3. CJ's personal computer. I think she has a nice mic and some headphones.

So if you really use your imagination and some creative accounting we might have totally combined between all of us maybe $500 cash money invested in all of this.

Then lets add in our total "broadcasting background". CJ has been on a couple of radio shows and I had been a guest on ONE [the same one I was on Friday as a matter of fact.] So we've got lets call it 6 hours experience in the biz total.

On the otherhand you pick one of the bigger networks...Dokk...TAW...PLR etc etc.... my guess is the bigger ones [by their own admission Friday] have 100's of thousands of dollars invested in their set up. And then they said 12 years of professional broadcast background.

So when you weigh it all out we might have a few pops and crackles and some of our shit might not even work from one week to the next. Thats just how it goes. Im not the voice of Nascar or WCW and CJ aint Lillian Garcia.

So you guys can go off in your secret corner and talk about how disorganized we sound, how stupid Serge is for investing in a 'net radio this late in the game and how I can get fucked. Bottom line is yall dont get it. And Ill be damned if Im going to explain it. The intended purpose is being achieved. Case in point is....your listening each week aint ya?

[And thats the bottom line cuz GonZo said so!]

>>CJ aint Lillian Garcia

damn i had to look that one up

confucy, you could always volunteer to help us out ... gonzo just explained how we have things running, if you have a better suggestion we are very keen to hear it. main problem obviously is 2 broadcasting locations on opposite sides of the world ...

if anyone can help us perfect that, its someone with lots of internet radio experience who doesn't waste a lot of money to make it all work ... know anyone?!

i've broadcasted maybe 20 radio shows total ... with sykkboy, netpond, plr radio etc ... its much easier to just have 1 dj ...

there's a thread somewhere in here where we started this whole idea - 'hey gonzo, lets do a radio show' .... 'ok cj' .... 1 week later - first oprano radio show! Gonzo works his ass off, love him or hate him you can't question his work ethic and the results he produces - look around. And I know many of you are surprised at how well the 2 of us hot headed, arrogant, stubborn, argumentative folks work together. We are too ;-)

we can't believe how well its going so far for such a throw together! we never expected anything much, so we couldn't ever be disappointed!

if you could hear all of the calls to the radio hotline you'd understand why we are pushing ahead ... internet radio is just beginning ... actually, multimedia is just beginning. nothing that happened before now will mean dick in 2 years ...

and even if we are wrong about all that and this radio show dies next week, who cares - i love the people at this board and enjoy bringing it all together once a week for some fun. Too much tension in the biz these days & a lot of us forget what we liked about our jobs.

If we spend 90 minutes a week laughing together (or at each other!), about things related to our industry, what's the problem?

Gonzo & CJ,

I had no idea what was involved. The two of you are troopers for moving ahead under the circumstances. I love radio. I'm listening to Art Bell doing live radio from his home in the desert. The big guys make it seem so easy because they have been doing it for years, and they have hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in their radio equipment.

Even ham radio people spend lots of money on their radios, amplifiers, power supplies, and antennas.

Gonzo, you know dokk, and you don't live that far from him. He has helped many webmasters with their radio shows. It would be great to hear what he is doing these days, and you could check with him to see what advice he could give you.

You won't have a problem with me. I'll just listen to the show and stay out of your chatroom.

I get great connections when I talk on the phone to my friend in Sydney, so you should be able to smooth out the noisy feedback. Have Serge & Mike as guests. Look at the numbers Serge got when he interviewed Larry Flynt.

I dont think either of us are whining or anything. I didnt mention that theres a 3 minute delay from when the feed starts to multicast which also makes the level tuning even more difficult. Im sure Ill figure it out. The point I was trying to make and yes I was being harsh... is that we are doing this because we want to.

Aint no fun in it if your handed everything with a big ole check to do it with.
You should know Mike and Serge a lot better than that since youve been here during the first week. Everything here has to be proven.

Ive know RP a lot longer than most people here...but thats only because I ran the ABBL. Im sure he would give me plenty of advice but he made a choice to putsome space between himself and internet radio and I respect that.

So I wont be bothering him. Nor did I insinuate that you needed to stay out of the show chatroom. Several of us got the boot button for anybody that gets out of hand. But think about it...if I havent banned you from Oprano why the hell would I ban you from a live chat? [BTW the number that can be in the room now is 99]

Ill fix up Aussie girl though. I like hearing from her as much as the next guy. Did you know her birthday was last week?

As far as guests...well you dont think we are going to tell you guys everything at first do you? As far as I know MikeAI has NEVER given a radio interview... YET!

Yall aint seen nothing yet either.

I'd prefer if you dropped by the chat room whenever you felt like it ... bottom line is if you carry on you will get the reaction you are used to from the opranauts. Peaches summed it up best, we are all so used to you now and the way you change your personality to entertain yourself - now its amusing, to me anyway ...

CJ, the question is: Where is the Lensman Live Radio Show?

I thought he would have jumped on radio a long time ago with
his own show.

I have heard both Brad and Lensman doing interviews on
other webmaster's shows. They both have a lot to say,
as do most of the board owners.

There is room for everyone. urpdance:

1/2 hour daily show(mon-fri) with Serge.

5min. on BBS news
2min. break
9min. interview with important person in this industry,
2min. break,
7min. take phone calls and let the pissing matches begin,
2min. break,
3min. review of the show and have a teaser for tomorrow show.

I know this would NEVER happen...but if by chance it did, it would be #1 internet radio show in adult industry.

Agreed.. there is room for everyone.

AEBN is doing this because we want the press. Simple enough. The more people who are aware of the company the more business the company will do.

Anyone else who does a radio show through AEBN is doing it because it makes good business sense. I am not charging for the bandwidth or servers. It is free in the sense that no money is changing hands. However I get commercials run during the show for my company. The host of the show gets to keep EVERY dime they make in advertising and all they have to do is buy about $150 worth of equipment.

More shows are on the way. Some will be good, others not so good but all will be entertaining. In my mind it isn't about the live shows.. it is about the archives and their value to the adult community in the years ahead. More people listen to the archives than would ever listen to a live show. I wish we had archived all of the old Netpond shows from years ago. I don't have a single copy of any of those shows.

Archives live on forever and so do the commercials that are played on them. If I buy advertising on a board or resource it is only good for a certain amount of time.. after that its gone forever. Radio lives on and on and on..

Radio Hosts I miss:

1. FM
2. Sharky
3. JoeE (very abrasive, but entertaining)
4. KB
5. Luke Ford
6. Lee Noga
7. Aly

Best shows I have heard:

1. JoeE interviewing Stephen Cohen
2. Luke Ford & Lee Noga interviewing Andy Edmond
3. Serge interviewing Larry Flynt
4. Luke & JimmyD talking to Gary Kremen
5. D$ inteviewing Acacia
6. YNOT talking to Catholic Bishop & Sister Lee
7. Serge & FM - what show was that? Is it archived?
8. Persian Kitty - what show? lost it when HD went down
9. Luke & Lee talking about Lee's military service
10. Luke talking to PK's Lew Payne

Bishop, Luke Ford use to archive telephone interviews, and
he also archived the chat transcripts. NOTHING CAN REPLACE
ARCHIVES. THE MORE...THE BETTER!

Whew, thank God you didn't miss me, Confucy! And I mean that sincerely!

Things in this world it's good not to have:

- a spot on Blackwell's Worst Dressed List

- a Presidential Endorsement by Ross Poirot

- the Confucy radio Seal of Approval

Dravyk,

Damn! I did it again. I hurt your feelings.

Okay, add Dravie as #8.

What is wrong with my top ten best shows?
Did you hear them? What should be removed
or added?

You want to argue with me cause it gets you all
excited and aroused, so give it your best shot,
sugar babe!

Hi Trev. I read about your baby son. He is a
handsome little guy.

Nah, Dravyk is a tough old bird. I would have to hit
him on the head with a sledgehammer before he
would yell. Don't tell him, but I listened to his radio
show every week. He had good guests.

Thanks

He's my pride and joy and every day brings loads of joy. (he's a funny little guy with some weird facial expressions)
