I just find this absolutely hilarious.
Back in August, I wrote a Netpond newsletter about the behavior at Internext that had Amp bouncing off of the walls for DAYS and half the folks at GFY telling me what a fucking idiot I was. Brad was letting his voice be heard about the issue as well and gained quite a few threats to have his booth pissed on in Vegas. Even MikeAI stepped up and did some scolding, and got a hearty round of "fuck you's" for it...

So now the shoe is on the other foot, and Kayla and some other folks have discovered just what type of damage this behavior really does, and SUDDENLY it's no longer cool to be completely fucked up, damaging the hotel, acting like an ass and pissing in public places:
http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showthread.p...threadid=201579

We should start a "Count The Hypocrites" contest, with quotes from people responding to Brad and I back in August compared to their posts from this thread.

I LOVE KARMA!!!!!!!!!!!! urpdance:

One problem though.. for Karma to actually be effective in this case one has to have a party that is willing and able to recognize their hypocrisy and acknowledge it. :P

How many do you think will/are able to see and acknowledge it in this case??

This IS a subject I can really relate to. The more people who have events & find out the penalities for bad behaviour among attendees - the easier my job gets. People just don't have a clue about what management goes through to obtain a decent location...... and then be invited back!

Good behaviour, I think starts 'at the top. The people in charge set the tone, and they are on hand and visable. Over time, attendees find out what management will put up with. I am sure I have pissed a lot of people off, but I have to look at the 'big picture. I have always looked at the Adult net as a business - therefore the Industry shows should reflect the same attitude.

All I ask is that people have a little RESPECT - Respect for themselves, respect for those around them, and respect for other peoples property.

"All I ask is that people have a little RESPECT - Respect for themselves, respect for those around them, and respect for other peoples property. "

While I am on the subject - I will let people know that I am going to be enforcing this attitude at San Diego. This is a beauitful, but consertative location. We do not have the whole hotel - unless people step up to the plate and reserve rooms early enough that this can be managed. Yes, we do have our own private areas & a private wing - but, there will be other hotel guests on the premisis. I don't expect that there will be any problems - and will need cooperation - that there will not be. We have always had Cybernets with other guests on the premisis, and not had any real problems or damage - so, I am expecting that this tradition will be carried forth.

Sharpie, you posted on GFY about only allowing those 21 and up into your show. I live in San Diego and really planned on making your next show, but I'll only be 20 at the time. What do I need to do to "clear" myself? I'm sure I'll have no problem getting people to vouch for me.

Sharpie I think you make an excellent point here.

Since Kayla was the one organizing this, most people probably thought that lewd behavior would not only be accepted and expected, but encouraged.
After all, she was one of the loudest people screaming "oh get a life" and "we were just having fun" and "quit acting like a prude" after the debacles in August (in which she also participated).

Sly aren't you going to be 21 something like two weeks after the San Diego event?

Yet if outlandish occurences did not happen at such conventions, so that rumors and gossip can fly around for weeks after the event, they would probably be deemed boring failures and lose much appeal.

No such thing as bad publicity, isn't that what they say?

Sort of like those talking banners and floating ads that piss people off...

The reason we make it 21 - is, that is the legal drinking age. We try to protect our sponsors who are responsible for serving alcoholic beverages. They have been lucky up to this point - but, there is a lot of liability that goes along with serving underage drinkers. The hotel bartenders do not have the time to be carding everyone at private events. Suite parties are also an issue with underage drinking. Booze flows easily..... no one checks IDs.

I don't personally know Kayla, but in all fairness she WAS very visible, was present for all of the seminars/workshops/registrations - which is more than I can say for some people who have run shows over the years. From where I sat (out in the lobby and in on the workshops), it looked like she was overseeing everything and in control. I didn't stay for the party honestly - because I know the reputation that GFYers have for conduct. Anyone who was surprised by their behavior is truly out of touch. lol Plus - it's hard to control the actions of others AFTER the day's events - and it sounds like most of the problems happened after the scheduled activities.

And... playing devil's advocate here - this was the first Webmaster Access. It's a learning process. And as Fay has said here too, it takes time. Over time people will realize that those behaviors might have been *OK* for a boat party in Florida, but are not *OK* for an entire weekend-long regional conference.

It will be hard for GFY to teach these folks - well, anything. lol But... the conference series does have potential. Good speakers, good panels, good locations... now just up the ante for some on-site security and let management crack down on the partiers a little and you might have something there.

Again.... I don't really know any of these folks and wasn't involved in the August discussion about behavior so I'm not taking any sides. I just know first-hand how hard it is to run one of these things and for her first try I think Kayla did a pretty good job considering all she had to work against.

Actually, I've heard good things about the Montreal shows but have not attended.

I was not exactly referring to all shows, all conventions, however what I said does go along with the whole gfy thing if ya know what I mean ; )

Did not mean damage HAS to be done, of course, but at the same time I bet the few bucks in damage is well worth its weight in gossip in this incident.

If not what else would people bitch about?

Just think of all the newbs on gfy's nuts now waiting to show up at the next con and get wild!

I agree that people who are irresponsible with drugs in public should get what is coming to them.

I love to smoke pot and do it often, maybe even talk about it online sometimes, but flaunting things like that in public to look cool is pretty lame. Some people are fucking stupid.

Montreal shows
I attended the first one and really enjoyed it.

Very good show for me on all levels and in all aspects - work, play, fun

Also in Montreal you could get away from the show and do as you pleased without any reflection on the show, exhibitors or attendees

Guess you can do that anywhere but everyone in Montreal was very accommodating (the cab drivers knew everything and where it was and wanted to take you there - art, dining, history, sightseeing, best strip club I've ever been to)

What was the makeup of the AWE show in Atlanta? I could just be playing the part of an old fogie, but from what I can tell, the vast majority of the stupidity and damage is being done by younger kids. With a few exceptions (Ryan, Slav, Sharky), in the "old days", everyone was well in their 20's with most in their 30's. At that time, you've usually sowed your wild oats or learned to hold your booze.

One year the party went to Buckhead to Club Kreme
THanks National Net!

THe last one they drank in the bar at the hotel. Then we loaded up a car load and went to a local swingers club.
What was the general age of those who attended?

I wish that all shows were conducted with a professional, no nonsense attitude like fay is talking about. Sounds like Fay's show is going to be one worth going to. Fay if you need any help with security, I may be looking for extra work by then!

I didn't see any of the plant fights or the bottle throwing in LA this past weekend.

Though I was certainly treated like I was responsible for it by Security.

I got alot of business done contrary to what some others say.

Even found a new friend who shares a common interest in Ken from hustler.com

I'd say, for me, it was a good show.

I got to the part where Kayla scolded everyone and quit reading. The thread was going to be meaningless at that point.

A chick who pisses in a bottle and drinks it in a hallway telling other people to behave better is laughable.

I've been to 2 conventions and some people who go are just obnoxious.

At the Montreal convention there where were a bunch of people horsing around outside the hotel screaming as loud as they could, guys lifting up the girls shirts and the girls screaming "NO DONT STICK YOUR DICK IN MY MOUTH HAHAHAHA" with a bunch regular hotel guests standing right there close to them.

It was like jr high kids on a field trip. I was embarassed for them.

Oh please, save the scare tactics for someone else. I fail to see how several members of a group getting caught with drugs justifies an illegal search and seizure of every member of a group. You don't see the police shaking down entire concert halls full of people because some of the folks are smoking pot do you? Let's be realistic, Atlanta is like every other big city, if you've got the desire and the money you can do as you please.
