With the Webmaster event coming up in November I am thinking of an event that would be fairly unique for webmasters to come and have a couple of drinks, catch up, etc.
One idea: have a VIP lounge with wine tasting.....premium cigars....some Frank and Dean playing.....serving up martinis
I am not sold on that.....I like it......just not sold...... and I am looking for a nice event that people can actually take a load off and relax...

serve caviar, best food, best drinks, provide best entertaintment,

I think that is an excellent idea. More business will get done in an evening like that, than a loud party.

Serge your idea is running a real tight second place.
I helped norm Wilson throw together a gig a few years back which was a Martini party in a hospitality suite....it was very well received.
I would like to do that kind of thing but on a much larger scale. I think I am going to grind on LFP to see if they want to step up too with Vivid Cash

Jim the only downfall I see with that is not everyone enjoys thick cigar smoke (and why doesn't anyone smoke pipes anymore, dammit?? I used to love the black cherry smell of my Dad's pipe in the winter...) - plus it's hell on the eyes.

I kinda think a real Vegas warm-up would be fun. Have a craps table, blackjack table, roulette wheel, poker table... some pretty dealers with nice cleavage *tastefully* showing... cigar girls walking around with their little boxes hanging off of straps (forget what those are called). Give everyone a roll of chips when they come in and ALL monies both bet and won go to IMPA. Webmasters don't get to keep their winnings, all chips get turned back in as they leave. (Of course they can buy more chips if they want.)
Hell make it better - instead of cashing the chips in for money they can cash 'em in for some cool donated prizes. T-shirts, gift certificates for online stores, etc. etc. (and all monies still go to IMPA)
Get your co-sponsors to donate some prizes and even smaller companies who wouldn't normally have the funds to co-sponsor a party like this could get in on the action by tossing in a hundred bucks or so for a couple of gift certificates.
Have the 'staff' all dressed up in old-timey gangster outfits like when they really had backroom poker games during prohibition.

Whatever event you put out, it's going to be another awesome party.
Laid back is nice, and a change for the better imo. I don't want to go to back to Vegas after not going to one of these shows in 3 years and have to deal with the kid mentality.

You have the benefit of being a tad on the large side so non of those party go'ers with the kid mentality are going to bring any in your direction

hahahaha, I smoke a pipe occassionally, the funny part is, I choose a cherry pipe tobacco because it is very airomatic(sp) and it stays around longer than my wifes pouporri

*sigh* Childhood memories here too... my dad used to alternate the Black Cherry with the Vanilla tobacco... to me that always smells like the holidays. I admit that I tried to get hubby into the pipe (back when he was a smoker) and it just didn't stick with him - wasn't his thing...
Lots of good ideas being tossed around for a new kind of gathering... laid back, no kids, no bullshit - already sounds like a winner.

I may try to put together a much smaller one for the November gig in Santa Monica to test the waters.
Brad...I am looking to be in a position by that time where doing some PR would be in the best interest of the company. Holio is looking to make some very big changes in the months to come.
I do believe our brand hads done a good job of standing on its own in this community...... but there are still many peope in this business that I would like to forge some meaningful and beneficial relationships with.......
Throwing an event where people can meet on even ground in a comfortable environment has always been a good setting (for me anyway) to set up a solid foundation.
My other reasons are purely selfish....If I am going to go to a party... why not have it your own.
Some cool feed back.....Oh the Cigar smoke....it will not be mandatory and keep in mind we are in las Vegas so generally speaking the ventalation is quite good.
NoCreditCard guys did the Martini & Cigar party in Hollywood. It was probably my favorite party - it brought out the 'cream of the crop, that I didn't see at the loud parties.
Very relaxing & they had the outside balcony for smokers. Think something like that might be a good idea.
If you have a relaxing party without all the loud music....and the elbow to elbow people - please invite me and Dave :-)
