yeah, some are some aren't is right. Also, when I when I worked in telesales I felt pretty exploited sometimes. Guess the fact is that any employer can expoit you it is just a matter of if you are willing to let yourself be exploited.
I have given this quite some thought recently, especially considering situations with girls from "poor countries" working in the adult industry. It appears quite a few of them are not very happy doing the work and struggle with it. Their employers often seem uninterested, because there are plenty of fish in the sea.
In the end, though, they have the choice and they choose to take the money and put up with the conditions. And they make good money, especially by a poor country's standard.
As long as it is an honest deal, where they know what they (have to) do and what they will get in return, I do not think it is exploitation.
At least not more than any other employer would try to make the most out of the people he/she pays. I see that dictionary.com also mentioned this as a meaning of the word "exploited": "developed or used to greatest advantage". And that can be considered good business..

I agree with this. It's actually pretty sad.
It depends on which angle you're working from. In Gregg's case he sees models all day and here in the states they all think their asses are plated with gold. This most likely stems from the days when content was purchased at a much higher rate. Now in order for anyone to make a living production cost must come down.
Then you look at hardcore girls who will be with any other model making $500.00 and their shit is everywhere. It would make more sense to me to get paid $350.00 for hour as an escort, elite clients who will most likely see you again.

and no one likes their boss.
I like my job though and I'm the best boss I could have. Fuck, I gave myself a raise this month. I deserved it. Pretty nice of me, huh?

I think it depends on how you define exploited. In a strict sense all models are exploited, but by the same reasoning Bill Gates and Microsoft exploits all of their employees as well.
That is what creates the free market....
As far as models, some are exploited - but many times its not from content producers but rather suitcase pimps. The same story applies for so many models and strippers, they end up supporting some bum of a boyfriend - who is usually abusive - both mentally and physically. I also know a handful of girls who save up all of their money, who own a house, a car and a few hundred grand in the bank by 22....
This is a free economy, so models can negotiate and hold out for deals that suit them.... many have agents who hustle to get them work.
I think more then ever, a smart, attractive girl can go farther, make more money then ever before.
Jenna Jamison has broken through the barrier, she makes millions, controls her image well, and has crossed over to mainstream. I think what she started other girls in the future will exploit.... I think it is great. I am always excited to see someone excel and do well....

That is true, Colin.
Many of the girls probably don't have much of an alternative (at least not short term). Other jobs they could get would probably not make them happy either, and would pay (a lot) less.
Still, I think being unhappy with work as content plays with your mind a lot more than (say) being unhappy about scrubbing toilets. Working in the adult industry is still something special, where many people will have a very negative opinion about you just because of that fact.
In the end, though, it is still their (free) choice. So..
A strong girl who's willing to stand up for herself can do well, and the exploitation isn't quite as bad in the web industry as it is with the straight video guys, but we're getting worse with all this choking, slapping and vomiting shit.

HAHA, this is sooooooo true. I had a 'dancer' friend who owed some money so she posed for some pics. She then decided she didn't want her face all over the net. I tried to convince her otherwise, and she said....exact words.... "Like it or not Tara, I'm a known face."
I laughed and laughed....and tried to explain to her that she was one of a million faces online....lol...it was rather amusing.
As far as exploitation....I can't say I agree with everything that was posted here....for me, there are definitely limits...whether a girl 'chooses' to do it or not.
The exploitation part comes in for me when you look at WHY she is doing what she is doing. Is it soley for the money to get her out of a 'bad' situation? Is it because she feels it is empowering for her? Is it because she just plain likes the money? Is it because the producers offered her MORE money to do certain things and she just couldn't turn down the cash?
If a girl decides to do plain old 'nudes' at the beginning of the shoot, signs the contract and they get shooting....and by the time the shoot is over she has broccoli up her butt because the cam dude pushed her on and on for more and more $$.....that's exploitation IMO.
If she had every intention of sticking broccoli up her butt from the start....all the power to her!
