You know my beef isn't with you or Mark - I was saddened to see you go - but undertand why you had to.
I don't understand Shawn tho. It takes an incredibly small person to screw over the very people that rushed to his defense when he was pushed out by Andy. I don't mean me - hell, I was out the door long before they started in on the people who helped build their business. I'm pissed at me for being duped.
Do you still have those recordings I made with Ross and Shawn (Scott?). Either you or Jeffrey Moore has the tape. As I recall there was discussion of redirecting join pages. That is probably credit card or wire fraud. It would be great if the webmaster community that props them and their program up could hear a stream or read transcripts of that. These guys steal from everyone.
What I'd like to know is why various affiliate programs allow these guys to have an account which they payout on?

Andy had ties to Lycaeum.org (an online entheogen encyclopedia). No biggie really, Andy is/was something of a psychonaut.
Andy Edmonds was hired by Kelly Kampen in 1996 to code Sexlist, he pulled Ross into the project. They exited out of that deal by breaking into Kelly's office and stealing their employment agreements. When they left they swiped Kelly's IP as well and out of that assfuck came...Sextracker!
Shawn came on board a couple months into the Sextracker project. Shawn was not a founder, programmer, or anything else other than a really smart marketing/advertising/biz dev guy.
Andy got caught up in the times and started to believe his own PR. Too bad because he was a bright individual. Andy was one of the quickest intellects I've had the opportunity to work with in this business. Unfortuantely he had an ego to match. That ego (and hard drugs) got us all in alot of trouble.

ive liked the site Lycaeum.org for a long time. good drug reference, exellently put together. Before you take that next presription from your doctor or dealer, its an excellent reference to see what you are ingesting

I seriously doubt that they were "stealing" 400,000 hits from you/yours per day. What Shawn and his crew are doing is much, much worse. They are taking the few hits that DO convert by means of inserting their own affiliate id's as well as redirecting join pages to their own MoneyTree program. This practice is detrimental to the entire industry. Affiliate programs (some are/were actually moneytree clients) are damaged when conversions drop and webmasters move to another program. Webmasters suffer damages in more direct ways, their joins are stolen from them.
Hey Nick- Please bear in mind that I've been out of the loop over there for a couple years but as of the time I left they could (and did):
Redirect/pop based on keyword, URL, etc.
Insert/replace affiliate id's. If a end user maciacally dropped on a paysite without being referred then Bode added his own affiliate ID, or redirected to his own sites. The latter is the case pertaining to ifriends. Shawn had serious issues with ifriends and was determined to steal as much of their traffic as possible for Tricams. Another target was KC's counter which Shawn wanted to hit so he could buy at a more favorable (for him) price.
Hey Bama, re: the tape. I don't think Jeff has it. I'll ask him just in case. I believe I have it. It is in storage in the states. Unfortunately I am not at liberty to return right now. I will see what I can do about having someone go throught the boxes and find it. That tape is very important in that Bode, Ross, and Scott are all on there discussing how to commit one of the greatest crimes ever committed online.

Yeah, but with one key difference. Charlo was merely rumored to have been up to this kind of bullshit and has since been vindicated. Shawn, Ross, and Scott were all definately redirecting joins and stealing traffic from competitors to grow their own properties, something Charlo deffinately did not do.

Have to agree with you on that one, seems like that was just a bunch of hype, as we hosted them at the time. Nobody ever contacted us about such instances, let alone proved it! Nothing was siezed, nothing happened at all really...un-necessary drama I guess
