The chances of anybody starting with $29 and parlay it into millions are next to ZERO. The chances of oldtimers to get back into the game after long abscense are SLIGHTLY better but not by much The chances of making good living money are still there, but dwindling every day it's mature business and it tells it all.

whoops, almost forgot...
chances of getting old are 99.93% I know only ONE webmaster who died young (Chappo) I personally intend to attend a few funerals myself and I'll never forgive people from Dallas if they don't invite me to Brad's funeral.... Death from diahreah is tough, but somebody gotta do it ;-)))

Pr0 I stumbled into adult internet business on a lark, in my second year of law school in 1996. I basicly started company with a dial up account, I hosted on my account ( did not last to long! haha). I put a computer p-90 with 32 megs of RAM, and a scanner on my discover card ( the scanner was a 3 pass color scanner, would take 10 minutes to scan one photo). I also started in my bedroom at my moms house!
The old days there were no rules, no one knew anything - I had no idea how to make money from the business.... and when I did, I thought I could make 2-3k a month doing it as a hobbie. Well fast forward to 2002, now own a building where the company is headquartered, have 19 full time employees, and still hanging in there. To start off fresh, I think a person can make a decent living. But a "decent living" is a vague term. Some people are happy to make 2k a month.... especially if there other options are flipping burgers at McDonalds. Someone coming back to the business has a better chance to make it back again. But it depends on what they are trying to accomplish... it also helps to have some old friends in the business still who can help out. I miss the good old days, there was not as much money as golden years - but it was an EXCITING time.... |

I think the chances of someone starting out new here with no bankroll and making money is pretty slim....
however, for someone who, like Mike mentioned, doesn't need more than a couple G's a month, it's still possible. I have a friend who opened a hamburger stand about a year ago and I kept telling him 'Dude, there's a McDonald's on every block in this town and a BurgerKing, Wendy's, etc right across the street. How are you going to compete?" He answered "Fuck McDonalds, they have to deal with shrinking margins while I can live happily and quite well on a small % of those margins." A year later, he is highly profitable, has employees, lives in a nice house, works long hours at something he loves and is happy and looking forward to opening a second store...I guess that means he's a success...considering McDonalds is having financial problems and closing stores.... Success is a relative term... Will a newbie have the financial success someone like ASerge has had in this business? Probably not, but it doesn't mean they can't make a little coin and sustain and be happy...success is relative.

Cj, for real, he called me up and said put a bunch of ads up on your site, eventually someone will notice and they will pay you. Yea Right!
A few weeks later, money started rolling in! Go figure, I still try that with my non-adult ventures. You just never know!!! |

President, I was given a similar piece of advice once but I can't remember who by ....
if you give someone something until they grow to like it, and threaten to take it away, you can almost always name your price ... it defininately doesn't work with adult much any more, but i've done similar things to get the attention of mainstream companies ;-) bet you thought the old bastard was insane ;-)))))) |
