In the few last years there has been lack of situations where the adult industry needed or created a leader. Most of the attacks on the adult industry has been target at individual companies for pushing the limits.
I´m sure there are plenty of individuals today who could become great leaders for our industry, but until the situation arrives, where they are forced into a battle for the whole industry, then everyone will keep minding their own business.

One thing you'd be hard pressed to dispute is that a lot of the "old timers" put a LOT of money in other people's pockets. Granted, they were also putting a chunk of change in their own in the process but I never heard affiliates in the 90's complain about programs that were pushing the envelope as long as the $$$ was being shared with them.

I would beg to differ. Compared to other online industries such as the gaming with practically no support from your peers, I think the porn industry has a very strong community (or communities would be a better word).

The very reason this business makes money is the fact that there is no formalized structure and the participants, especially the successful ones, have gone and done things their own way.
To lead in this business is to set yourself up with a very big bullseye in a most uncomfortable place. Regardless of whether you've really done anything wrong or not. Case in point would be the FTC and Maxcash -- no wrongdoing at the end of it all but the damage to the business was done even though.
It's very important how long you've been in this business, if for no other reason than those with longevity have seen more of what works and what doesn't and can tailor their business accordingly.

Squirt you make some good points, there are some new guys who are up and commers and are doing things well. There are also a bunch of old timers who have become nothing but scrubs. Infact, I am seeing more and more old schoolers acting more like cockholsters.
To me its not about being in the busniess for 8 years, but rather dealing with people who have been around for a LEAST a year. Once they make it past a year, working full time, people tend to understand the business.
I prefer to work with people I know, who have been around, or at least is known or dealt with someone else I respect.
It is like that in all of life.... not just this biz.
