Default Amsterdam plans to close down its most famous district, citing sleaze.....

http://www.newsweek.com/id/109373

Quote:
Two weeks ago a young Dutch fashion designer named Bas Kosters opened a new store. His colorful and sumptuous creations—skirts, handbags, sweatshirts—merit attention. But the most striking aspect of his new venue is the location. Kosters's work is on display in Amsterdam's Red Light District behind two tall windows that until recently were used as a brothel. The ladies have vanished. The red lights and curtains have been removed and replaced by Kosters's hyperfashionable clothes.

g invoke geography section here -->Amsterdam (help·info) (IPA: [ɑmstərˡdɑm]) is the capital of the Netherlands. Its name is derived from "Amstel dam",[6] pointing to the city's origin: a dam on the river Amstel. The city is known for its historic port, the Rijksmuseum, its red-light district (de Wallen), its liberal coffeeshops, and its many canals which have led to Amsterdam being called the "Venice of the North".[7][8] During the Dutch Golden Age, Amsterdam was one of the most important ports in the world, with innovative developments in trade, and became the leading centre for finance and diamonds.[9][10]
The city, founded in the late 12th century as a small fishing village, has grown to become the largest city in the Netherlands with a population of 743,104 inhabitants, containing at least 172 nationalities.[11][12]
Amsterdam and its surrounding metropolitan area have a population of 1 million to about 1.5 million people, depending on definition, and is part of the Randstad conurbation, which has a population of 6,659,300.<-- end geography section

Wait I get it.....

Humanity is changing. Men are no longer interested in no strings, no bullshit sex, and they just want to buy a nice handbag instead.

Nevermind; that was just a nightmare I was having.

Yeah, that'll impact tourism for sure. We're not talking 50% or anything like that, but it will impact enough that the town will feel it.

I read an article in ABC a couple or three years back talking about how no one would admit it but closing the Gold Club directly cost Atlanta a dozen or so conferences and conventions.

.
Oh, I think you're wrong about that.
I think it will impact tourism by MORE than 50%.
We can buy marijuana in California, and Europeans can get it elsewhere as well.
I'm surprised that as a person in the adult business, you don't see that this is EXACTLY what men go to Amsterdam for.
