That is the traditional logic, as it was back in netscape days between ns and days.

The particular issue I was working with was coded correctly and worked in all browsers I checked except FF, I checked ie, opera and a couple of others I have on my home desktop just for such investigations.

In this case FF was requiring a display line (display: block that none of the others cared about. When I checked all my refs they indicated that I should not have to set the display to get where I wanted to be.
