It finished up yesterday and people are just starting to trickle in. Hopefully Klixxx will have some pics up soon from MikeB... I heard it went well - sorry I missed it this year - I always love the cozy networking of a Cybernet Expo.

Prelim reports say that the hotel management was a bit of a buzz kill.

I hope that everyone did some good business, and retained their sense of humor. It has been a very bad time for all involved in the putting on the show. We did everything humanly possible to put on the same show we always do.
There is only so much we can say without attorney approval. It is not close to being over for us. But I will say that we received a letter of cancellation from the new ownership at a very late date and had to 'go to the mat to perserve the show. It was much too late to cancel. We have been continually harrassed, and put through a lot of mental hell. We have spent much more than the show made, and have taken risks that are very scarey. Ynot hung in there with us, knowing that they may never receive one penny for all Jay's efforts. But, there is just NO WAY the show was not going to happen. People gave us their money and trust. I have fought a lot of battles over the years for my credability, but this one was definiately the most costly. As an industry, we just cannot bend over and take whatever people decide to throw at us, on a whim. I just will not stand for it. You have to take a stand, 'whatever it takes! |

We are looking for new locations.
It is so 'ironic - the ONLY reason we stayed one more year in San Diego, was because the hotel invited us back & gave us ALL the rooms. It should have been so much better. Having to start over with new hotel contacts every year is a real hassle. It should have been smooth sailing, they already knew that we didn't have 'tails and horns, and how we ran the show. Then they sold the hotel & even worse divided it up between 2 hotel chains. So, now I not only had to deal with one new management team - I had to deal with two. In 11 years of Trade Shows, I never had to deal with 'Breach of Contract before. I don't advise it - no one wins except the attorneys, and your life is forever changed. But, anyone who knows me and my history - knows that I will not be intimidated. I fight for two things: my kids and my integrity. It's just that simple.... Anyone who has an idea of a location for our 10th Anniversary - LMK. There are many things to take into consideration: 1. It needs to be a place that a lot of people like to visit. 2. It needs to be in the vicinity of a major airport. 3. It cannot be in the bible belt or anywhere we cannot stay under the radar. 4. It needs to be a smaller hotel with areas for private gatherings. Larger hotels want to "marry us" with other events & that is very difficult. 5. The hotel needs to have decent room rates. 6. It needs to be in a location that has easy access to restaurants and clubs. 7. It needs to be in the US - there are many regulars who have a problem leaving the country. 8. It needs to be a hotel who is not afraid of an Adult show. I have a good track record with Hilton, Hyatt, Wyndham & Delta - Thank god..... But, I am very worried about what the lawsuit with Atlas Hotels will do to our references. No hotel wants to get involved with anything like that. Of course, they will see the hotels viewpoint. (even though we won the restaining order and arbitration) Just 5 out of the 8 eliminates 90% of the options. |

Try the Hyatt in Beavercreek ( Vail) colorado, it is an awesome hotel and is dead empty in the summer ( it is sold out during ski months of course) and it would be a terrific place to hold a show I think.
I stayed there once in July and only paid 89 bucks a night and the place is a true 5 star during season . so give them a call. |

I will pretty much go to any Las Vegas show that isn't in the absolute heat of summer or head to head with a major convention. And neither of those stop me every time, just doesn't make it an automatic.
But for stuff off the beaten path to go some place people have never been before... I've always said Broadmoor in Colorado Springs would be a wonderful facility for a truly unique show. Could do lots of outdoor type events such as cook outs up on the mountain and such. My hunch is the grown ups would love it, party crowd would hate it though due to lack of titty bars. Of the more normal type cities, I'd love to see something in either Chicago or Atlantic City. A big Indian casino and hotel someplace might also be a lot of fun. |
