Re: Morgan - This made me think of you :))
Well, it's always nice to be thought of...I...*think.* You happen to referring to the dog that trapped my mail carrier inside her vehicle today, though. Oh, sure, she may be tiny and wearing a blue turtleneck yuppie sweater, but by gosh, she sure can recognize that "Post Office" insignia. I felt for Julie. She looked at me and said "I'm so sorry, but it's against regulations. I can't get out of the car." The poor woman looked so embarrassed. She's worked for the Post Office for 20 years and been bitten 8 times. The last time was Halloween, when a black lab attached itself to her posterior, causing her to have to undergo rabies shots. Although, frankly, sarettah, if you could see Julie's butt, you might be tempted to take a nibble, too. I got a book on Chihuahuas, but it didn't say what inspired the Aztecs to breed them that size. For all I know, it could have been the size of the roasting pan. You know those crazy Aztecs. |

Speaking of books, how about that one, "To Serve Chihuahuas". It's about these space aliens who want to become servants to the dogs, you see ...

My darling Morgan, I would not be worthy of being your bitch if I couldn't fill your day with useless, though interesting, Chihuahua trivia. From http://www.canismajor.com/dog/chihua.html The Chihuahua takes its name from the Mexican state abutting west Texas and New Mexico, but likely came from the ancient Techichi dogs of the Toltecs crossed with hairless dogs from the Orient. Historians describe the Techichi as a heavy-boned small dog with a long coat indigenous to Central America and definitely connected to the Toltec civilization near present-day Mexico City. The Techichi was larger than the modern Chihuahua and was mute. The Aztecs conquered the Toltecs and adopted the little dogs as sacred icons of the upper classes, used in religious ceremonies to expiate sins and as guides for the spirits of the dead. Somewhere along the way, breed historian K. deBlinde* concluded, the Techichi was crossed with an Oriental hairless breed that made its way to the New World via the Bering Strait land bridge and the smaller, smooth-coated, vocal Chihuahua of today was born. |

Large and especially mute! Now that's a Chihuahua that might be withstandable!

"My bitch is better than YOUR bitch...my bitch is better than yours..." Red, you're the best, my lush bosomed tartlet! I did know that the "Mexican Hairless" was an entirely separate breed of dog from the Chihuahua, for which I'm grateful. I don't like the Hairless. To me, the animal looks ill. Dingo's coat is a nice chocolate, no doubt the influence of her Dachshund parent. She's also longer than a standard Chihuahua, and has a longer snout. Due to various "errand running" things, today was the first day that both Mommy *and* Daddy were gone all day. When we got back, Dingo was nearly apoplectic with joy. I've had to clean Chihuahua kisses off my glasses three times. Not that I'd ever accuse the cats of whispering "they're not coming back, you know." They wouldn't do a mean thing like that. |
