For All You Dick Van Patten Fans
I know you've all been wondering what Dick's been up to lately ... why he's eating dog food.
Dick Van Patten eats dog food LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- For "Eight Is Enough" patriarch Dick Van Patten, some dog food is good enough to eat. Van Patten is lending his name and likeness to a new dog food formula that claims to be indistinguishable from a home-cooked meal for humans. To prove his point, he recently sampled the "Irish stew" recipe at a media luncheon. "Not too bad," the 76-year-old actor said before offering a bite to his canine dining companion. "Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance Eatables for Dogs" also comes in such flavors as spaghetti and meatballs, hobo chili and Chinese takeout. The product is designed with the health of pets in mind and marketed as an alternative to feeding them table scraps, said Natural Balance President Joey Herrick. "Eight Is Enough" aired from 1977 to 1981 |

Yanno, I felt a whole lot better about feeding Dingo Natural Balance dog food before I read this.

It's also sending a message to the elderly who eat pet food anyway because it's all they can afford.
What a jackass!

Even though it is only pretzles, I really wish I'd not have been eating when I read this thread.

Re: For All You Dick Van Patten Fans
I can't let this one alone.
What the hell would make this putz think that "tasting good to humans" means a damned thing for dog food? It's like the expensive little dog biscuits that are shaped like "cute things" to appeal to the dog's owners. The dog doesn't give a rat's ass what they're shaped like. I hadn't thought of the elderly, but now that I have...I'm even more appalled. I'm also switching dog foods. Dingo has a bag of the kibble, but when it's gone, she'll be eating something else. (It was expensive damned kibble, too.) I'm not going to patronize this putz's product. Dingo will cope. I'm of the "this is your bowl and this is your kibble, you'll eat it when you're hungry enough" persuasion when it comes to pet feeding. And because no one else has mentioned it, I will. The dog licks her butt. I don't think the ol' tastebuds are really firing along human lines. |

I understand George Bush has instructed Haliburton to stock up on that for next year's hurricane season so all the, um, "dogs" in the blighted areas won't starve if there's an emergency.
