Has the industry stood still or something over the past 2 weeks?

All i seem to be reading about on the various boards these days is 2257 related crap.

Sure its a bad thing, hopefully itll get struck down but Jesus people, if you had your shit in order to begin with, like you were supposed to by law, this wouldnt be such a fucking big problem for you.

So you bought content and didnt get the model ids, thats your fault, you need to be slapped around for being so fucking stupid to begin with, who in their right fucking mind puts porn images online without being able to prove the models age?

Start running your shit like a business, perhaps you might make some money in the process.

If these noobs were half as good running a business as they were sig whoring for cents a day they would realize its not impossible to become compliant with these new regulations.

I’m thankful that most of them have no clue, they’ll either run illegally or leave the table.

I can count on 2 hands the amount of sponsors who have already informed their affiliates of their stance on the new 2257 regs.

I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot less paysites on the net in the next few days

Hopefully, as Trev says, thatll mean people will be leaving the table and going back to their part-time burger flipping days

I've done nothing to comply and I will do nothing to comply, my servers are located in the US and there they'll stay!

As a whole the industry will have to bluff, when we reach 23rd June. No way, all docs are in place by that date. Most of the big movie providers are still waiting for the studios, and other image brokers are also not clear on what they have by 23rd June.

If the feds are looking to make headlines, then they will raid on the 23rd June, since most will be caught with their "pants down". However this is probably not going to happen...

I do not think its anybodys fault in the industry or that anyone is overreacting... The maximum penalty is 10 years in prison per violation - thats alot of time for a single picture or video without proper docs (yeah, "intent" will probably count alot, but who wants to be the "court test dummy"?)

There are a few big sponsors that have not spoken out or made any changes - my guess is that they are trying to avoid attention, however in this case, then the silence is ear deafening...

Count me on the side of those with pants pulled up, thank you. Compliance isn't that hard if you've been working on it since day one. It's just an industry regulation to me, just like any other industry has its regulations, a cost of doing business. No biggy.

So let the herd be thinned, as I see it. Anyone operating improperly deserves whatever they get, just as they would in any other industry.

That said, I think the latest version of 2257 is intentionally vague and convoluted in an attempt to make it tougher to fully comply, which basically makes it unconstitutional. We'll see how much of it is ruled that way, or any, for that matter.

But whatever happens, hopefully the smart businesspeople will stay in business and will find the opportunities presented by adversity, and the playas will be the low-hanging fruit.

This is an issue I have been very vocal since the very start, One reason I have felt that not all sponosrs were very quick to jump up and state their stance or ability to comply etc, was for the fact that if they were to just comply to the letter of the final regs they would be breaking more laws. and then this sentance: "We will comply, we will provide our affils with all they need" = "We will break more laws to make more money"

To me that looks bad lol

Another factor is that most people I talked to early on in the past few weeks their own legal council was in a way shaking their head saying stuff like "this don't look right, theres no way to comply" etc etc so again alot of people jst stayed silent.

In the end I feel that none of this could possably hold up in a high court as to comply you break more laws period. so just like during times of bad weather we just need to batten down the hatches so to speak and wait for the SC to step in and put this right.

On the matter of people jumping ship, I don't like that at all, and alot of people disagree with me on it, Their not leaving because they can't be or don't want to be compliant, I think most are bailing because of mis-information from others in our biz. I gave a great example a few weeks back on the radio show about "thinning the heard"

"For every 1,000 "newbs" that bail think of
300 people that will never signup for your program and make you money
100 people that will never click your sig, or use your service and make you money
1-3 people that could have launched the "next big thing" that could have made you money

Just my 2 cents for whatever it's worth

So apparently, the case for the injunction is rumored to be heard ON the 23rd June @ around 1:30pm.

Is anyone able to find solid evidence of this?

If its true, its going to open a LOT of people up to prosecution for breaking the law for 13+1/2 hours if the injunction gets granted LOL

Yes an intimidating part of all of this is that people chalk up our govt to be a loose cannon. With no prededent the prosecution of violators will be very interesting.

Likewise... we always were compliant

Just put up some 2257 compliant banners for our USA affiliates...

And got written statement from our lawyers to show our affiliates we did look into it, and are compliant and not putting anyone at risk.

I am deleting all images and banners on the 22nd

leaving the text and the links where they are, just going to outright delete all images.

Thats the easy solution
