Internext: The New Seminar Committee Wants Your Feedback!
In order to create a seminar program for Internext that is timely, compelling and informative, and best addresses the needs and issues of those working in our industry, we’ve put together an Internext seminar committee that includes some industry notables who are very respected for their knowledge of and participation in the industry.
In bringing non-AVN/ Internext people onboard, as well as actively soliciting feedback from attendees, this summer’s seminar program promises to exceed the current expectations of all who attend!
Through feedback analysis and team discussion, we’re currently solidifying which seminar topics to include in the Summer Conference program (not Traffic-101); who to include in seminar participation for each topic; and what the best format for seminars would be.
SHARE YOUR IDEAS!
The diversity and collective experience of this team should lead us to taking Internext seminars to a whole new level, but we also want to hear from YOU!
Speak up and share your ideas and opinions with us.
Enter to win TWO PASSES* to the Summer Internext Conference, or submit your feedback anonymously, it’s up to you, but do it HERE!
*The first 50 completed surveys will be entered into a draw to win 2 passes to this Summer’s Internext Conference.
The first 100 completed surveys will be entered into a second draw to win 2 passes to this Summer’s Internext Conference.
This draw does not allow for refunding passes that have already been purchased.
BE A PANELIST!
We’re looking for industry leaders and brilliant minds to participate in our seminar program. If you’re interested in being a presenter, panelist and/or moderator, please fill in the online application form at: http://www.internextconference.com/seminar...ome_speaker.php
We also encourage you to forward the panelist link to anybody you think would be a positive addition to the Internext Seminar program.
THANK YOU!
The Internext Summer Conference is on August 5-7, 2005 in Hollywood, Florida.
Visit the website at www.InternextConference.com for further details!

Lee, smart newbies might just find a way to scrape together $250 to learn something new.
The others...? Well, I'll leave it to you to show them how to be a huge success in this industry. Good luck with that!

Ok, so what's the incentive for someone doing 100K a day in SE traffic to let anyone pick his/her brain?
No question that's a compelling seminar for everyone trying to figure out how to garner SE traffic, but why would anyone who knows what they're doing at it share their secrets?

Are you kidding?!
The problem with Internext in the past has been the perception that they DON'T solicit enough feedback from attendees... therefore, in some minds, don't accurately reflect the needs of their audience. As many people know, I came over to AVN to address this.
am i kidding?
no.
i have been watching people complain for years about the costs, decreasing attendence, expensive booth space/poor return on investment etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
if you don't know what webmasters want after so many years of experience and you are so out of touch with the very market you are trying to serve that you are posting on public forums to ask every idiot in this biz for an opinion... then why are you qualified to organize an event, charging premium prices and expecting people to spend 1000's of dollars each, to attend from all over the world?

I have been watching that, too. That's why I saw an opportunity to address it.
I personally have very strong opinions about what Internext attendees would like to see addressed in seminars/ discussion panels and, judging by the responses I've received to my questions, I am far from out-of-touch with the market Internext is trying to serve.
It's indescribably arrogant of you to assume that asking for feedback from 'every idiot in this biz' is a display of ignorance on any level. I've received overwhelming support for the changes many of us know would add value to the seminar program, as well as some great ideas on how to jazz things up a bit.
What makes the people at Internext qualified to organize a premium event? That's what they do... They're a trade show company. They also organize AEE, Erotica LA and other massive events... They have the clout and budget to rent an entire hotel to ensure low rates and they have the experience to rather smoothly (for the most part) put thousands of people in the same place at the same time. They're not particularily in touch with the ins-and-outs of our industry, that's not what they do... That's what I do, and I would never assume that the opinions of my audience aren't worthy of my attention or request.

We are talking about the same company right Aly?
You are aware that for pretty much EVERY Internext event i have attended the rates for the hotel actually go up for the conventions right?
Lets not compare apples to oranges but Vegas prices are significantly higher than the days before and after the shows, also last year, to book a room at the Westin was almost $75 higher during the Internext show.
Where are we seeing these lower prices? Or do you mean the cost is lower for Internext / AVN staff?
I very much appreciate what Aly is doing. And I've tried to avoid grumbling. But, it's time for me to do so.
Other trade shows have demonstrated the ability to have a convention when and where it is not a million degrees temperature and humidity. Toronto, San Diego, Phoenix, etc ... How come AVN insists (other than Vegas) that only sweat holes in mid-August are the only ones that are affordable???
And as for lower prices, first Hollywood show the hotel charged $22 for two mixed drinks with some liquor in them. Second show it was $27 (before tip) and half to a third the liquor. I haven't been to the last one and not going to this one either, but I assume it must be a glass of water for $50 by now.
The Netpond guys have had to fight the hotel charging them thousands of dollars on phone bills each and every single time they've been there. Each time they ended up winning, but that's not the point.
Between the swamp heat and the rampant gauging (let's not mention the hurricanes as well), that's why I've dropped Hollywood off my list. I can go to places in much more confortable climates and at the same time feel that I'm paying fairer prices for the hotel, food and service than the Florida shows.

Sums up my idea too.... I love Vegas, but Florida is OFF my list.
Hey Dravyk - been trying to reach you via email. Just dropped you a new one - we had some "missing" emails lately but have fixed the problem. (I think my email client is paranoid - lol)

i agree that was a rude thing to say and i apologize to anyone that might be offended. what i was getting at is that if i asked you to pick 20 active members posting today and to tell me what they do, you probably couldn't... that was what was going through my mind when i wrote it. i know a lot of people here and read this board everday and could not tell you what 1/3 of people do here and confirm whether or not they have ever been to a show, much less have the money to attend.
and you made my point yourself, about what i was trying to say:
Quote:

if after so many years, you come here to say "we still don't get it, we don't know what you want and why you are there... but we definately know that we want to charge you up the ass for everything"
if after so many years, you come here to say "we still don't get it, we don't know what you want and why you are there... but we definately know that we want to charge you up the ass for everything"
You're ignoring my primary point. So I'll reiterate...
It has been my opinion (as with many) that Internext needed someone to come onboard who has a strong understanding of and connection to the industry, in order to improve the events overall, as well as the perception of the events.
I came onboard a few weeks before the Vegas show this year in order to do that.
Don't tell me I don't know this industry and the people who are in it, that just makes you look like the ignorant one.
Are you planning on attending the Florida show?
