Appears the public is voting with the remote control, moving away from Rather's "opinion based news" and moving on more to straight new like ABC. Funny to think that Rather could get blown off about something that should be taking down Bush. Amazing spin from the republican party to make the memo the issue, not the fact that Bush shirked on his duty. Alex

Alex, Rather deserves to be destroyed for running fake documents.
You can't run a story using fake documents as a source and then say that what's in the fake documents is more important than the fact that the documents are fake. Why don't the Dems stick to the issues that show what a worthless pile of shit Bush is? There's the $2.4 Trillion budget (unjustifiable), enormous deficits, war mistakes, no bin Laden, blatant vote buying via socialist economic policies ($400 billion for senior drugs, steel tariffs), unsecure borders with 3 million Mexicans projected to cross illegally this year alone.... That the Dems would stoop to faking documents in a race against a total disaster is insane. Everyone knows Bush was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and got special treatment. What the Dems should stick to is showing all the ways he's been a failure in office. If you need help, just go to the libertarian website lewrockwell.com and read about what people who understand economics think of the idiot.

Oh yeah, CBS (and especially Rather as their public face) has made a HUGE error. But the story is bigger, because the release of these documents has served to muddy the waters, to create a magicians flash away from the issue so that you instead are more interested in how stupid CBS looks, rather than how Bush avoided his duty. Now the duty is not an issue at all... some fake document is the issue - the public quickly forgets what it is all about.
I agree, the dems really do need to step up the attacks on Bush's record on things like jobs, the whole WMD issue, Enron, halibutron, and all those issues. The net loss of jobs over 4 years is an issue that hits home with the millions who no longer have work. "Are you better off today than you were 4 years ago?" Most people will say no. Alex

Yes, its amazing... kinda makes you think, if Kerry would be able to do anything as President in international politics, where he would meet people many times more tactical, wise etc. than Bush. Way too much anti-bush rhetoric, when there are so many political issues where Bush would loose votes - Democrates should have taken some anger management classes, before starting their campaign, so they could have gotten all of that frustration out of their system.

Rather has a track record, this is not an isolated incident.
Bush has signed the freedom of information papers to allow release of all documents pertaining to his service. The Pentagon is the one dropping the ball getting things found and released. Kerry has NOT signed the paperwork, and only released documents he CHOOSE to release. I wish we would move on from the Vietnam things, I am tired of it.... I look forward to the day it no longer haunts our Nation. |
