Does anyone recommend any wine info sites? Like, that breaks down which types of wine are like what, defines each red etc, and lists top picks of each "genre" ??

I've looked around a little on google but really havent found an all around excellent wine site.

Now that I'm 21, it's time to get more wine knowledgable. Before, since I had lost my fake id, it was either buy some cheap wine with one of my 21 yr old friend when they are over, or get some hobo. Kinda hard to give a hobo a list of nice wines....I could hardly get them to pronounce "Woo' briiiiggge"

Any sites to recommend?

Or better yet,

any personal top lists anyone would like to list? I know serge gave me some at one point but I can't seem to find it on the search, it may have gotten deleted, I know alot of old threads are one.

Thanks in advance.

I buy most of my wine from Berry Bros in St James.
They have a very educational website and you can order in the States.
Website www.bbr.com

My Personal favourite at the moment is: http://www.bbr.com/GB/db/product/485...XF8BZRTM7V00BZ
I just opened a second case this week! I think Rioja is such good value for money if compared to good Bordeaux for example.

B.T.W. Pushpills, if you want to ask for it at you local wine merchants remember Rioja is pronounced, RE-OKA.

If you are serious about building up a decent cellar you should look into buying your wine En Primeur and you’ll save an absolute fortune in the future.

information, shmimformation....

all you have to know is:
what was good year for the region.

after that, go to the store, buy a bottle, taste it, and find what YOU like.

All reviews don't mean shit if you don't like the wine for any reason.

we running out of 2001 Coppola Merlot for every day wine and started search for replacement...

2002 Tuscan, $9, no good
2001 Tuscun $15, not good,
Ironstone Winery, CA, Merlot 2001, $11 - decent replacement, gotta buy a few cases to keep handy.

that's how you do it

Another thing that's fun to do, if you have the right type of liquor store nearby, is to attend different wine tasting events. Of course, you're "supposed" to spit out the wine after you swish it around and get a taste for it, but there's less excitement in that!

My wine store is #2 on speed dial... they are great. When they don't have what I'd like or the price increases, they are always right there with good suggestions and will even put together a sample case for us to experiment with.

Cheers!
