we're doing a fun laid back get drunk talk shit party on the 4th for both of the two big bowl games. we're not sure about location yet and we're looking for other sponsors but right now we're leaning towards a strip club with lots of big screens, free food & booze. that kinda thing.
then on the 5th from 10pm-1am we're throwing what i'm calling a "party for grown ups" at the vbar. good music, you can actually hear the people you're talking to, and the martini's will flow for free ;-)
But yes... nobody with a brain is throwing any more megaparties. we threw the $100k blowout in miami with topbucks last year and the returns didnt justify the party.
Anybody looking to get some branding for the football party, hit me up!

Personally I think it's a good thing.
We've already talked about the problems with too much *free alcohol* in other posts, the kind of people it attracts and the problems that it causes. PLUS there was a point where there was just TOO MANY parties going on all at the same time. You can only cram so much into a 3-day convention. We were spending an hour here, an hour there, 30-minutes at this one, a quick hello & good-bye at that one... it was ridiculous.
Choice is good - I wouldn't want to see just one party each night, that eliminates any kind of option whatsoever - but too much is still too much no matter what.

You are full of it! When did you give me tickets to anything? I only saw you once in Vegas and that was for about 5 minutes as you were leaving the showroom. Obviously you have me confused with one of the content models (don't worry - it happens all the time ).

Sounds like a plan!
Some of the best "parties" I've gone to were small deals with good friends and colleagues where we could chat, have dinner, network a bit - maybe *gasp* even get some business taken care of besides. Invite only deals sound like a great way to avoid the typical BS.
