Many of the Christan holidays were made to coincide with the holidays of older religions as to ease the conversion from many gods to one
example Candlemas is on the winter solstice which is close to Christmas - however if you read the bible it can be interpreted that Christ was born in October (as he was supposed to be 33.5 years of age at his crucification) note - I am not a Pagan nor do I play one on TV
