IRVINE, Calif. - Angered by adult Internet chat board comments challenging their streaming media patent claims, and perhaps riled further by the fact of several adult companies joining to help each other challenge those claims, Acacia Media Technologies wants a federal court to let the company add new charges that all but add up to conspiracy charges against those adult companies.

Acacia wants U.S. District Judge Alicemarie Stotler to amend their original litigation against 10 companies, charging unfair business practices, intentional interference with prospective business advantage, trade libel, and patent infringement. Acacia also wants Stotler to issue a permanent injunction against them and for the case to be tried before a jury. The company filed that amendment complaint last week. A hearing on that motion is scheduled for August 4.

Acacia has even suggested the Internet Media Protective Association – the group formed by some of the adult Internet companies to fight back the Acacia patent claims and act as a new interest group for other adult Net issues and concerns – tried to block Larry Flynt Publications from licensing with Acacia, a claim New Destiny Media/Homegrown Video chief Spike Goldberg says is all but laughable.

Oh shit, they forgot the first rule of being in the porn business....never take anything said on the boards seriously.

If these guys want to get into the porn business, they need to develop a thicker skin.

Thanks all for the support!

The IMPA is supporting the Acacia Defense fund and addressing a number of other issues relating to fair business practices.

If anyone has any questions about the IMPA or the Acacia Defense Fund then please contact me or Spike.

I guess calling is better then emailing? lol- I emailed Spike a week ago. No reply. In fact anyone I contacted about this matter hasn't gotten back to me.

No problem. I guess we just watch what we say online in public. No doubt they'll use whatever info they can. It seems pretty agressive. I'm not sure I'd invest that type of cash to go up against some the BIGGEST players in adult internet. Hell no.

Lee Noga: You are correct. Euro webmasters are getting the packages as well.

In my opinion, Webmasters should be aware that even if they are in another country, or "offshore" then they are still liable if they do business in any of the countries covered by the Acacia patents.

Far-l, I will be making a sizeable donation to IMPA, and I think others should as well. Just waiting on some paperwork, then will be sending over the $ to assist the IMPA.

FYI, I also know of at least one Canadian webmaster who has received the package.
