All the while, CEO Bob Friedland berating his contract girls for their lack of professionalism while twice in the past five days, Bob has sent out a private email to his contract girls to the Jill Kelly Productions Yahoo group, which has thousands of members. Then JKP has the chutzpah to ask me to remove their memos from my site.
i have never seen much evidence that people in online porn seem to know much about or care about all the drama, BS and players in mainstream porn.
i skip it all if i read Lukes site because there is nothing there that pertains directly to the biz we are in - which strung out, Bukkake Queen, junky that put a bullet in her brain this week, what psychotic drug dealer/schizophrenic idiot can't run his own video distribution business and gene ross and what he is doing with his spare time, does not interest me in the slightest.
Adult DVD production is completely irrelevant to our e-commerce business and I could care less about the fuckups a bunch of coke addicts make in their private lifes.

JR, me too i never cared much about the happenings of the mainstream porn slangers. Their biz doesnt effect me much. But they are interesting to fallow for new upcoming trends that eventually make it online.

I find this "mainstream porn" drama tittilating. Up to a point. Then I get disgusted with myself for paying any attention to it.
Kind of like the Forest drama.

Yeah I find most video production people to be idiots. They have their thing they do, most are more concerned about getting high, laid, and living the porn lifestyle then real business.
They came to the net late, most of them are still doing a terrible job ( thank goodness)... in reality they have been passed by, and will eventually be replaced by internet firms.
Look at the series the bangbus people do, nasty dollars and such - this is much better porn then the video people shoot. More cutting edge... it is the future.
Of course Hustler, Vivid and the top companies are well run - but the rest just "play like they are real companies" There is no professionality at all. ( even worse then the internet side)

But I'm tempted to say "How the fuck do you know?" after reading this post.
Bangbus is not original- done years and years ago. Ed Powers did the reality bit with Bus Stop Tales, Stagliano did it, Jamie Gillis, etc, etc.
You call this cutting edge? What exactly is cutting edge about it? Cheap locations, cheap set ups, same repetitive formula? And let's not forget the comedic banter- real hot!
These reality sites today bite all the original adult video ideas. In fact, there are no new ideas. Have you viewed all porn ever produced and then expressed you omnipotence?
I agree to a certain extent with some of what you are saying, but who are you talking about in particular? Have you met with all the video companies? Which ones did you find unprofessional and why? Who are the idiots?
How do I know? I have been a fan and consumer of porn since I was 15... I have also had exposure and have been working with the LA based video porn people for the past year. I have seen them operate firt hand.
It used to be funny to watch all these guys prance around, puffing their chests out, babbling on about inane things...
Ed Powers, and all the other original gonzo people are good - but what have they done lately? Who do you think had made more money the past 2 years? Ed Powers? or BangBus guys?
It is not the content that I am refering to, its the marketing, the business techniques, and such....
I have met Ed... and while I am a big fan, and I promote the hell out of his site because it converts very well... I promise you my net worth is higher then his ( even with Ken running his website and probably helping his bottom line out a lot).... yet I started in porn decades after him...
Wonder why that is?
Internet people, those who understand the technology, the business plans, are cutting edge are MUCH better to deal with then the old school porn establishment in LA....
Where does homegrown fit into this equation?

I have met some very talented people in the video side of the business. Buts its a pretty tight hierachy.... hard for people to really break out on their own.
