from where I sit
no, not worth it
Yahoo does not have the reach (traffic, exposure) to make paying for listings profitable
plus when you pay you are not sure if you will get the listing

other opinions?

If you have something very niche like, then MAYBE it MIGHT be POSSIBLY worth it... it really depends.

$600 a year is $50 a month... for a membership site, you have to generate a couple of signups a month just from that single yahoo listing to make it worth it. If you are really niche, then you might have a hope, otherwise you probably have too many competitors for too little... you could possibly do better with pay per click listing in other engines...

not sure how much long the pay per listing will be in yahoo now that they have bought out inktomi ...

roxle, take your traffic budget and spend it at inktomi ... you'll actually get signups

being listed in yahoo is about as valuable as being listed on dmoz ... it can help you build other traffic sources if you know how to work them in together.

i have 3 sites listed in yahoo, each gets on average of 1500 hits per month from the categories they are in ... $50 per month for 1500 hits per month is good value if you can make it so ;-)

i have ppc traffic for sale, contact me if you are interested

Isn't the Yahoo paid listings a re-occuring program now? That is they make you pay YEARLY for the link....

Not worth it....

If it is yearly, it doesnt sound like it's worth it....but if it's a one-time fee...maybe.

I was lucky enough to get one of my sites in before they made you pay....I was stupid though and didn't give it a name that would go in the top of the category...I think that is VERY important....give it an AAA name...lol....or #1 Lesbians or such...I'm lucky if I get 1500 a month from that listing....but, I guess I can't complain....'cause it's free traffic for me.

I used to love Yahoo... not anymore.

I had a number of sites listed back in the day, and one of them had a great title and keyword loaded description. That site alone did about 10 to 15 signups a day back then...

Now Yahoo doesn't even include my site in their search results if you search for the exact title of my site. And yes, it's still in the directory... They have spit in the face of every person who ever paid them $600 and they are simply not worth it anymore...

(grumble)
