I sort of go along this line: If you don't want to be in the porn business, don't be in it. Stay away. I am trying to remember the term used to describe the porn business, and it wasn't very nice. Someone actually posted some of FG's better quotes on GFY, including something about throwing up in her mouth if she had to deal with any of us.

Hating the porn business and then using all it's resources, servicees, and support mechanisms at the same time seems a little, well, odd. Then again, I am just a misogynistic prick, so what do I know?

I have to disagree. There seems to be a misconception in the lion's share of the market that there is only one way to "do porn."

FurryGirl may be strident, and she may not like the majority of how the industry is run, but that doesn't mean she hasn't got a right to indulge her exhibitionism or make money from it (which still qualifies as porn, by definition) just because she doesn't want to be part of how the rest of it is run. I can understand why someone with her targeted demographic would choose to disassociate herself from the bulk of the business.

That's kinda the beauty of the business though -- there is room for her to be part of it in the way she sees fit. And honestly, I don't see her using many of the industry resources - until such time as she posted on The Zoo about the xbiz appropriation, she had about 12 posts over there. She operates in her own way, with her own marketing efforts, and really doesn't have much to do with the bulk of the industry.

Actually, now that I think about it, I think that may be a significant portion of why the Hateorade got brought out.

I agree with you about 90% here.

For the most part there isn't any hating on the way they do business, or their chosen markets, or whatever. In the same way I don't really give a specific crap about some of the content out there (I just don't list it, link it, or promote it). I can even suggest at times that some of that content isn't really great for "the porn biz", and seeing the recent sad string of convictions and guilty pleas, well, I might not have been wrong. But I don't try to change the way anyone else does that business - it's up to them.

I don't suggest for a minute that meeting Max Hardcore would make me throw up in my mouth (although honestly he creeps me out slightly), nor would I rather die than sit at the same table as some people in the business. I don't look down my nose at anyone's part of the porn business, because hey, we are all slinging porn here.

So basically if you are lobbing bombs at people, don't be shocked when they aren't exactly receptive to your next question.

Hmm. get the quotes right. The one you are referring to is:

Had nothing to do with dealing with porn people. Had to do with having sex with webmasters.

I think if I was her gender I would probably agree.

Having spent 15 years in the mainstream corporate world and now 11+ years in adult I'd say that 99.9% number is a huge exageration.

Mainstream has nothing on adult in regards to the scum factor, and I've met more salt of the earth peeps in this biz than in mainstream.

It is hard to argue with them, but in relatively polite company you don't say any of the three. There are plenty of people in the world I don't like, but I don't run up to them and say "I would throw up in my mouth if you tried to have sex with me".

It bears noting that she didn't say them in "polite society" - she said them on her Twitter, which probably gets pretty soundly ignored by the bulk of the industry 99% of the time and only got picked up this time 'cos she called someone out.

If she has an affiliate program, which she indeed does, then hell yes I'm someone she should be marketing to.

I'm simply not going to promote a site where the owner has utter disdain for the very webmasters sending them traffic. Her site doesn't fit the niches I promote anyway, but I do have a babe/pornstar site and I refuse to promote Mariah Milano for exactly the same reason.
