Thanks for posting this, guys, I was wondering about all the NO/Biloxi folk.
Has everyone been heard from yet? |

Thanks, Morgan.
>No word on Wicked Temptress and Osiris. We can hope that's just a factor of the communication infrastructure being down.

I second that, Mike. I sure wouldn't have had the courage to stay on. I'd have beat it out of there pronto.

I'm hoping so, Mel.
Also found out that the news re: my sister-in-law and family was *early* news. They haven't been heard from since. They live in Long Beach, Mississippi - right between Gulfport and Biloxi. My mother-in-law isn't doing well, and won't be until she hears from her daughter. |

Morgan. This truly is so bad. My east Texas and San Antonio relatives have actually taken in virtual strangers from NO and Biloxi and the region - friends of friends, etc. Here's one nice thing that might brighten up the day a little -- good to see (amid all the looting, etc) some true humanity taking shape: http://neworleans.craigslist.org/hhh/ |

Very compelling and should be one of the better stories that comes out of all of this, especially if they succeed in keeping the lights on til this whole thing is over.
Given the time frames being discussed, I'm not sure that's possible, but if they fail it clearly wont be for lack of determination, effort and pure hard work. I've always had respect for Sig and what he's done with Directnic, that's gone to a whole new level. And Buff, well, funny how fate works out, but ya know he's somehow very uniquely qualified to be doing exactly what he's doing. All that said, I sincerely hope they've got some folks working offsite to get Directnic up at an alternate data center, so these guys can get out of there. My hunch is Sig not only has that going, but is probably spending the downtime writing an improved Disaster Recovery plan for next time. |
