Well, we are down to the last day and we have some issues (self caused by me) to get ironed out.
There is a chance that the hit delivery will start tonight (the original schedule) in which case, the landing page and trade pages will be run from my server (because they are already set up there for testing) but I have contacted the hit guy and asked him to extend the delivery dqate to Friday so that I can get the scripts on to a neutral server. Unfortunately, he will be in a major meeting between tommorrow and saturday, so if the date gets extended out, it might have to go into next week.
Anyway. I will keep everyone updated as to what is going on today.

I've got no problems with pushing it into next week Sar, not much point in a contest if one of the teams aint ready.

I have just finished yakking (via icq) with the hit man.
We are moving the sales part of the contest to commence next Wednesday or Thursday.
This is because of a technical snafu on my part. I was going to move it to this Friday (the 13th) but the hitman and crew are involved in a project that will tie up their time through Sunday or so.
I will be getting with them on Monday to iron out the technical issues.
So, all teams have an additional week for building their stuff.
Making progress ? Sitting dead in the water ? Need some advice ? Want some comments on the designs etc ?
I have taken a day off from the whole thing and tonight will be back on it. This weekend I will post something for review (it will be sanitized so you can't see all the neat truicks MR X is showing me lol) but I will definitely post at least a few pages of it

I just reset all the counters to zero and in a bit, the hitman should turn on the traffic.
It is 40k hits, but they are being delivered across whatever time period the hitman decides, so I don't expect to see major major server bumps going on, but hopefully, I will be surprised

I have to go make a copy because anybody that doesn't have a credit card will be sent other places rather than my site. I had thought about GEO tracking stuff but instead I just went out to Google and tracked down the entire Visa and Matercard databases and used that instead (they know your ip, imagine that )

I just put a page up where folks can go click through the sites as if they are hitting the landing page, but the hits won't upset the actuall contest rotation cause they aren't going into the live table, just a fake counter
I don't think I do, but haven't checked all of my stats yet either.
The contest has received 2041 hits thus far which equates to about 100 hits an hour, so each team is seeing about 25 contest hits an hour, but, with the trade script in place it plays like a circle jerk of sorts, so each team is potentially see the 25 new hits an hour plus about another 75 recycled hits.

Yeah, I'm seeing some descrepancies myself. I am counting everything that clicks and comparing them.

Anyway, I just found a major fuckup I made. On the last build before the contest started I somehow managed to wipe the onclick code on all my sponsor links.
So, apparently, if you clicked a sponsor link on my site, in addition to going to the sponsor page, I was popping the trade link too.
I imagine that probably pissed off a few folks.
Also, clicking around a bit I ended up in a maxcash popup maze (and they get real fucking aggresive) and at some point in there it looked to me like it was trying to dl a toolbar on my ass
Like I say, it looked like it, but it might not have been so, I am gonna have to investigate. But first I have to get off this box (I'm at my '98 backup box) and get on to my fully patched XP box to check
In just around 2 hours we will hit the 5000 hit mark (right now we are at 4842). We are still averaging about 100 hits an hour coming in to the contest.
I still have jackshit for sales (why should life change just cause of a contest )
I am seriously thinking of jacking around with the site at this point.

Nobody is getting shit for sales
Trev and I are getting some free email signups. I know NickP reported $1.50 in revenue and Trev reported $1.20 in revenue
We are all using 3 toitally different approaches and nobody is biting. I have tweaked out several times and am getting ready to do a complete overhaul for the second half of the contest.
we are at 16,700 hits into the contest so far and avaeraging 100 hits an hour (more or less) so we will be into the second half in about 2 days.
