New happening spot for porn in Atlanta

GonZo, myself and Man & Bat meet up for a late night breakfast. Man & Bat turned us on to a great new spot for 24 hour chow. The IHOP on Roswell Road. The thing about this spot is it catchs people coming out of the Buckhead party locations on their way home back out into the burbs. The crowd was....colorful!

So after our feast, we're standing out in the parking lot having a spirited discussion about whether the group of limp wristed black men at the table next to us were "twinks" or not. They were skinny, eating "rooty tooty" pancakes and having an enthusiastic discussion about gymnastics. I insisted that they were twinks, but GonZo and M&B say there's no such thing as an african american twink.

Now while this is going on, a guy in a SUV pulls up and parks. A hot little blonde number who has been waiting in her car gets out and comes up to him. They go around to the passenger side and open the door, but before getting in she holds up her driver's license and he snaps several pictures. We all look at each other and crack up. She gets in the SUV and he gets back in the driver's side.

The dude can tell GonZo is dying to say something and rolls down the window to ask if we're watching the parking lot. This is a common problem when you hang with Man & Bat, everyone assumes you're the bouncers.

GonZo busts the dude out and says it looks like he was getting a little 2257 action started there. GonZo shifts into full on porn lord mode giving the guy a hard time and he's stuttering and stammering and playing stupid. Final tells us he's a record producer and drives off. I didn't know the record industry met blondes in the parking lot of the IHOP at 2AM and took pictures of their id before taking them back for a "session".

I see a new regular stop for the FFN late night breakfast call.

Sounds like nothing's changed since the 80's except driver's license proof if you're talking about the one in Sandy Springs.

I dunno, maybe we're just jumping to conclusions a bit too quickly.

I'm sure there are dozens of reasons you might meet a pretty young lady at 2AM, shortly after many strip club shifts end. Take a picture of her and her driver's license in the parking lot and then drive off with her.

We could probably pad it out to a couple of hours, but somehow I'm not seeing you having the appreciation for buffalo fingers and eggs in the wee hours of the morning that we do. And thus not making the trip even with advanced notice.

We've already made dinner more predictable. Joe has 4:20, we have 6:20...

Most of our late night haunts draw a colorful crowd, but I'll say this one was definitely the most colorful we've seen in a while.

Normally we just settle for appreciating how ignored the Atlanta curfew laws are. First off, I'm amazed at the gaggles of teenage hotties out that late....and even more amazed that their parents let 'em out of the house dressed that way.

And I thought GonZo was living dangerously giving them business cards, I didn't realize he was actually giving them Vick's business cards and not his own....

While we did at least dress a bit more conservatively, remember this was back in the days when the drinking age was 18 (and some of us who will remain unnamed had excellent fake IDs from the age of 15. Gotta love FL and their "instant" licenses when you say "you" lost your license and your 18 yo friend gives you all the documents you need.......). The amount of young drunk girls at the IHOP late at night was huge. In fact, I'm betting that's why my friend wanted to work there.

That was also when punk started being big in ATL (what was the name of the place in Buckhead - numbers - Club 341 or something?) so you had the colorful ones in there too.

Once I got a bit older and started working in the bars, THAT'S when I saw the real fun things as our night started at 2AM. Steak and Egg - one right ITP on Roswell and another just a bit north from the IHOP in Sandy Springs - were also fun. There's also the IHOP next to the Beer Mug and there was another one somewhere near the Slimelight and Confetti because I remember stopping there too. And of course, the Beef Cellar but that usually had a wee bit higher classed drunks in it

Sometimes I wonder how I survived those days.

And as far as heading to ATL in the middle of the night - that is NOT a fun drive in the wee hours, tired and by yourself.
