Hello,
My name is Vincent Esposito. I am the national chairperson of the Italo American Benevolent Society.
I join Mr. Corliss and Mr. Farber in
their condemnation of Mr. Paul Cambria's statements.
Mr. Cambria is a well known Italian American attorney. He is not an unintelligent man. I speak on behalf of all Italian Americans and when I say that all Italian Americans know that 'deli meats' are not part of any Jewish conspiracy you can believe me. We are proud of our own heritage and prosciutto, salamis, mortadella, pepperonis, these 'deli meats' have been found in every Italian American household at one point or another.
My point is that Mr. Cambria full well knew when he made that statement that in no way can 'deli meats' be considered a Jewish only article.
I have no idea what Mr. Cambria's agenda was by making his statement but on behalf of the Italian American community we too ask Mr. Paul Cambria to explain his insensitive ignorant statement.
My name is Nathan Farber and I am the secretary of the Jewish Anti Defamation League. We applaud the action of Mr. Corliss and the Association of American Meat Processors. Mr. Cambria's statements were ignorant at best and bigoted at worst. We are committed to putting an end to racial and cultural stereotyping of the type Mr. Cambria on behalf of his client Evan Horowitz puts forth. Some may feel that this "political correctness" is
overbearing and unnecessesary. We don't. We have no interest in abridging anybody's free speech but when we see a statement which paints one racial or cultural group with a broad brush we will publically ask or demand the source of that statement to go on record publically
to explain his remarks. We also ask Mr. Paul Cambria of the law firm LIPSITZ, GREEN, FAHRINGER,
ROLL, SALISBURY & CAMBRIA for a public explanation and apology for his preposterous statement.

Hello,
I am William Corliss, executive Vice President of the Association of American Meat Processors. The AAMP represents some 500 large and small companies engaged in the meat processing industry. It has come to out attention some outlandish, irresponsible, if not bigoted, statements have been made by an individual named Paul Cambria of Buffalo New York on behalf of a client involved in the adult entertainment industry. A cease and desist letter written by Mr. Cambria included a statement that left no ambiguity that Mr. Cambia believes that the phrase 'deli meats' is a term which relates only to the Jewish culture.
We at the AAMP find this statement troubling and it concerns us for two reasons. One on a general human decency level. Mr. Cambria's supposition smacks of an underlying bigotry, or insenstive cultural stereotyping at least. Remarks such as Mr. Cambria's could be taken by the general public as a claim that the delicatessen meat industry is controlled by a Jewish Conspiracy.
Secondly, on a professional level, Mr. Cambria's statement and inference that 'deli meats' are exclusively a Jewish meat product is false. The AAMP represents 100's of manufacturers and distributors of deli meats. Only a small minority of the processed meat industry produces what would be considered Jewish style deli meat products.
One of our jobs at the AAMP is to sell on behalf of our member companies the wide variety of delicious and nutricious products produced by our member companies. Our members produce and market deli meats of many national origins including German and Italian deli meats. Sterotypes of the type Mr. Cambria engages in damage our business.
So that said, we ask Mr. Paul Cambria of the law firm LIPSITZ, GREEN, FAHRINGER, ROLL, SALISBURY & CAMBRIA to make a full public apology to the meat industry of America.
Thank you for your time,
Bill Corliss, Esq.

TheEnforcer
Had all kinds of problems with my ICQ connection today.. I just log on with other accounts just not my main account.. about 8 hours later it just came back on, really strange.
First, let me preface all this by saying, I do not operate a webmaster resource, nor do I intend to do so. I receive no money or ad space or valuable prizes or kickbacks or free donuts from any webmaster resource (although lord knows, I'm always open to it), nor do I foresee doing so, so all of what I'm saying is just as a regular webmaster schlub, and I may well be a moron. :))
For some reason, it got 'round that that *I'm* "dissing" certain resources (actually, last night, on Sounding Point, I was offering an *opinion* only, and I had *thought* we were all still allowed those...even us fat morons) for gain -- I am not.
I ain't startin' no webmaster resource for economic gain. The thing I'm starting is not-for-profit, and it's not EVEN going to accept traffic from it! I'm doing it as a hobby thing, and because I know all manner of people who are genuinely hurting.
I go to about four webmaster resources on a weekly basis.
When I want to find out about content, I go to Ynot, because they still have the best listings for what I'm seeking (and I fall back on using my favorite ones, or am told about one by the Content Master Dravyk).
When I wanted to post, formerly, I'd go to Netpond, because all the people with whom I enjoy interacting (you know all the nasty people like me) were posting, and now I come here for the same reasons.
When looking for other sources of content or sponsors or what-have-you, or when I hear about a post on a board or some other event or happening, I go to AllofEm. I also frequently check out Porn Resource and its offshoots.
In looking for info on a webmaster graphics place or something, I head to Webmaster Matrix (part of WebOvedrive), run by my old friends Tweet and KayS.
I don't think I've *ever* signed up for a program because of a banner on a webmaster resource, or because I talked to someone at a booth at a webmaster event. I might have clicked a banner to go to a sponsorship program, but if it was a good one, I'd have heard about it long before time.
That said, the reason I signed up to Sexhit is because I met cj in Phoenix (co-sponsored by all manner of great companies including Insite and Max Cash, despite my earlier moronic posting) and liked her enormously...and because someone I trust told me they converted well with them.
I send traffic to JohnIP because (1) I like him (despite my earlier stupidity), and (2) his company has never once screwed me or anyone I know. Similarly, MarcDe, Helmy and numerous other good folk.
The FIRST program I signed up for was Max Cash, because Meat recommended them.
Ergo, it was always a combo thing of networking and word of mouth.

Why would CCBill need to advertise?

Because on the old board few years ago the every day's discussion was:
CCbill processing for child porn
CCBill was that ,
CCBill was this....

I believe CCBill made a right desission to advertise and shield themselves from those discussions.

In the past two years they have moved away from traditional activities such as prostitution and lap dancing to become the majority of cyberporn owners."
----
samantha, that was hilarious!! 'Scarlet collar' workers ... thank the lord I was able to kick that prostitution and dancing though... it was giving me back problems.
I've really enjoyed the last 2 pages discussion on webmaster resources... For the last 6 months, we've advertised sexhit on a large portion of resources...
Here's a few notes about my findings ...
BossHawg won't take new advertisers for more money. The waiting list is honest and he can't be bribed ...
During our advertising at plr, the clicks we're second only to the OLD netpond. However, inquiries and instantly signed up webmasters we're very common... usually 1 per 'show' at least... What's the value of each of those signups? I'll tell you in a few years :-)
Netpond always sends (sorry, SENT) the most traffic... but I can never get a true indication of how much comes from my posting, or from the advertising, or the combination of both.
TopNiche doesn't send many 'clicks' - but I am also slack in posting there... as for branding, its the only resource where I've been told in person 'we saw your ad on topniche' - more than once.
The ynot newsletter ALWAYS brings emails from people, based on the article topics. these conversations often start with a discussion, and end in a new signup... cost=the time it takes me to write an article
I may later post some numbers, but I think snoops, serge, xxxphoto and a few others have made the most important points ...
Each resource offers a different value - some work on a branding, lots of traffic, most impressions system. Others work on less traffic, but trying to push your product to those visitors. These are only successful if the visitors ever change.. which often, they don't.
One thing I can say for sure is that there are TOO MANY RESOURCES and NOT ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE OF THE COST OF A CLICK/IMPRESSION/SIGNUP.
I think, serge, your move was brilliant. And its easy to see who the classy resources are based on who took the time to offer information in the discussion.
Porn Resource and Top niche, no doubt are 2 of the classiest resources out there. where are the rest?

The most amusing thing on this board today was sponsers mulling over how big a party they should throw. CCBill/Cavecreek/CCBucks is hiring a web designer --
the ideal candidate will
a. know how to design websites -- HTML, DHTML, and Javascript knowledge; graphic design applications: Photoshop, Illustrator, image editing, cross browser scripting, and Macromedia products (Fireworks, Flash, Dreamweaver).
b. have experience and a portfolio of such designs, especially those with an adult slant
c. either live in Phoenix or be willing to relocate to Phoenix on his or her own
d. want to work for a company on payroll, with benefits like paid vacation, healthcare, 401K yada yada yada
Of course that means you'd have to work with me too lol!!!
Very true Nick... the various resource sites and such are but a segment of the adult business as a whole and that should definately be taken as a factor to look at in the decision making process.

Heres some food for thought from the topic at hand (given that we foot the bill instead of collecting it in the situation we're talking about) --
Let's say I have 1000 sites I process for (not the actual number at all, but easy math for me) --
and while the biggest players do business with us aren't the ones that necessarily come to or expect us to have a party -- as a matter of fact they are usually busy planning their own parties so they're in the same boat we are --
but now say the 975 smaller accounts we have -- the ones that cumulatively we make much more in profit and volume on, well they want us to do something for them, maybe at this point they've come to expect it as their right, given past moves we've made --
and then we add in the 500 or so we don't do business with but could... (once again just an easy number)...
well these are most likely the people that do realize these things exist and do give them weight --
if this weren't the case I don't think you'd see the Gameworks, the Humorgasms, the WB parties, and our own parties so packed with people...

I think the effect Enforcer raises is valid.
however...
it overates the penetration of boards and events. Some of the biggest players (owners, not managers):
1.)do not realise these things take place,or boards exist.
2.)give them little weight
3.)and perhaps an additional perspective,a lot of people do not want to be associated with the image the various boards give off,and especially do not wish to be associated with the conferences, and the much publicised parties and all they entail.

Well well one of my favorite subjects…Adult resource advertising costs (Here I go D and Bryan;))
First of all what brings us to these discussions…competition…..lower revenue to resource sites because of general tightening of sponsor belts (Costs like shit roll down hit)….concern over improving customer service.
Probably ALL of the above and more!! As a company that Like a lot of other larger companies we spend MANY THOUSANDS on advertising in publications as well as on resource sites…the thing that has frustrated us over the years is a lack of STANDARDS for advertising rates.
Like main stream publications, and NOT to apply an analogy in another industry is dishonest and deceiving double speak,The entire advertising concept ,branding (PAGE VIEWS)as well as expected direct response (CLICK THROUGHS) is rolled up into ONE set price multiplied by Subscriptions (impressions). No advertiser in their right MIND would EVER place an ad in a publication without understanding SUDSCRIPTIONS.Yet in the Adult venue resource sites talk around that..interject nebulous double speak and treat the advertiser as active partners instead of delivering to some measured standard to a paying customer. Resource sites should be OBLIGATED to provide competitive comparisons but seemingly not until the well has dried up…not until the squeeze is on… does the discussion even occur.
A lot of advertisers have waited a LONG time for resource sites to compete just like their sponsors do EVERY DAY…hope this discussion is a harbinger of things to come.
BTW I just heard that the Adult Gossip Show was the most informative…LESS Lifestyle related show EVER!!! I Fucking wonder WHY…TOO FREAKING FUNNY!!!! Keep up the good work…. Looks like some learning goin on….maybe;))
"I go to the seminars/conventions to see friends. IMHO, the best so far was the CCBill-sponsored one in Arizona.
Melody "
----------------
Thanks Mel, but in all fairness there were alot of other sponsors besides us and the fact that they all kicked in with their attendance and participation in events and panels etc made it what it was --
Exactly the point Enforcer -- I think sometimes in the quest to grow, companies often go to great pains to get the spotlight (which is as it should be in good pr) and then when they've hit a point that they don't really need that spotlight so much anymore, they have to really evaluate what it costs to back down out of it -- and the cost is not always dollars either...
KK Newbie bootcamp will be fun, wonder if the newbies will think the same thing ;)

I would say that being a sponser or billing agent would be different than a resource site. people depend on those program operators and billing companies to send them their money. Anything that makes it look like they have LESS money tends to make webmasters panic or rivals to stir shit.
Thu, 19 Jul - 18:33:49 216.183.254.20 Post #: 4509
On the other hand once you start with that sort of thing, if you don't continue it -- parties, large booths, giveaways -- do the webmasters think you're going broke if you attempt to scale back to reasonable levels based on what you calculate to be the real return on these things?
KK
Thu, 19 Jul 2001 06:02:43 - IP: 64.38.194.18 - Post # 4521
-----------------------
And therein lies the rub.
Sometimes PERCEPTION is mistaken for REALITY!!
Since KK brought CCBill up I'll use them as a hypothetical example. Ron says "fuck this shit I'm not gonna do all this anymore" and goes to the smallest booth possible or maybe even decides to not have a booth at the next show. Webmaasters being a predictable lot will scream and say "CCBill is in trouble", "They're losing money" , blah, blah, blah... Which isn't the case but word spreads even if it may be untrue and CCBill may lose future business to another company or even possibly lose current customers if they panic. Now it definately may not be that bad but there would be some who would make noise for sure if they did that. Just as when FM lowered payouts earlier. Now, eventually the furor would die down but is it worth the potential for something like that that occasionally takes on a life of it's own even if it's bogus.
Now, one has to look at that short term perception problem and figure whether or not that is worth the potential problems it could bring the company even if in reality it's a bullshit perception that is based purely on erroneous assumptions or shit stirrers.
