do the webmasters think you're going broke if you attempt to scale back to reasonable levels based on what you calculate to be the real return on these things?
============================
Kimmy, you hit a problem we came up with not too long ago...
We stopped the Booth, the parties, etc... It didn't affect our business one bit.
"Why would CCBill need to advertise? When they are already mentioned word of mouth as one of the Processors to use if you are an adult webmaster? "
----------------------
Funny you would choose that as an example Ant -- I've come back from Vegas wondering how many of the X number that signed up for accounts at the show would have ended up with one anyway, and my conclusion isn't real good when it comes to justifying the cost of that booth and all the crap that goes along with it.
On the other hand once you start with that sort of thing, if you don't continue it -- parties, large booths, giveaways -- do the webmasters think you're going broke if you attempt to scale back to reasonable levels based on what you calculate to be the real return on these things?

Serge,
Look at the firestorm you've created by admitting the truth that some resource sites get outrageous per click numbers :)
Now you've gone and pissed off Jayman who'll probably drop by that hidden radio show we have weekly :)

Branding... Sure if you aren't already known...
Why would CCBill need to advertise? When they are already mentioned word of mouth as one of the Processors to use if you are an adult webmaster?
Word of mouth is the best form of advertising. It carries conviction, experience, and more important, loyalty to.
However, if you don't have the "Branding" of CCBill, yer ficked. Do your best advertising on as many boards as you can to get webmasters familliar with your product or services.

Geez Sergei, one minute you're all for fractions, the next you're throwing them out the window...
Worse than a woman I say!
Wm resource advertising, booths at shows, the list goes on of these so called 'unquantifiable tax write offs' -- however, for the people that spend the money on these ads a way to quantify the results is going to have to emerge.

**Branding... Bullshit, most cases webmasters will click on your banner if it's flashy enough and you say the magic word... FREE
**
Ya know, I still believe the value of branding is in they eye of the advertiser - but, you brought up a good point.
I'm in a unique position as one of the owners of a resource and a rep of a sponsor proggie.
On the resource owners' side - getting advertisers to change banners can be like pulling teeth - and they typically don't take advantage of free ways to promote their program (announcements, articles, etc) no matter how many times we ask them to, nor do they take the time to either a) put some effort in to building a banner that will pull or b) change it out when it becomes stale - then, they bitch about returns.
From the sponsor side - sometimes getting a resource site to change out a banner can be incredibly frustrating and tedious. We don't always have TIME to word an announcement for your newsletter, nor post on the boards, nor write an article. And, we're paying for service - so, where's the service?
Seems like a Catch-22 at times. Only answer I think of is better communication between resource sites and their advertisers - and that takes time and effort from both parties. As well as a little more work and effort from the resource sites on the creativity angle.
And, I can only speak from WebOverdrive's perspective, I don't know how other resources handle their advertisers and typically, advertisers, unless hopping mad about something, don't share comparisons with us. Snoops (Ð)PornResource - Resource Stylin!

Prepare to be surprised soon, then ;)))
OK,not ,for me in Webmaster Resource arena,but......
Branding... Bullshit, most cases webmasters will click on your banner if it's flashy enough and you say the magic word... FREE
Only thing I can say about Branding is this... The longer a banner stays up on a board, the more a webmaster trusts the program, if they can pay for their banner space month after month, they gotta be legit. Yes, it's stupid, but true. We webmasters are a simple, but loveable lot.
Traffic... This is the same for webmaster and surfer... Traffic is King.
"Re creativity - I think we all know we can't treat webmasters as surfers - BUT, we can apply the same creative thought process and effort to advertising webmaster products/services as we put into marketing to surfers. "
So true Snoops. I havent seen to many new ideas in the resource market in quite some time. Got anything innnovative coming out you can share with us?? :))
Are you going to be heading to the Miami show in August?
Whoops...I forgot to say THANKS A BUNCH for the congrats wishes Snoops :)
I will have been married for a month this coming Monday :)))
Hooper shared his average cost per click when advertising at resource sites. Any other sponsors want to divulge how much they pay at the many resource sites??
This is some good discussion and I dont think sponsors have had a plce to share numbers on advertising on resource sites as of yet.
**The webmaster resource market has become quite saturated as late**
Boy Howdy LOL
Re creativity - I think we all know we can't treat webmasters as surfers - BUT, we can apply the same creative thought process and effort to advertising webmaster products/services as we put into marketing to surfers.
"Seems like that same creativity that gets applied to selling porn doesn't get put into webmaster resources. "
Hooper. No offense to Lee Noga but I remember her trying this method of advertising with that resource program that popped blur consoles when you would visit a resource site. Didnt work as webmasters can NOT be treated like surfers.
The webmaster resource market has become quite saturated as late, so putting banners every 10 spots would just annoy the hell out of anybody reading IMO...the side chicklet thing and small ads are a good alternative...
A quote from serge:
"I vote to charge the most for GOOD traffic and
give it free to sponsors if the resource has lousy traffic "
I follow that one to a 'T'...Havent charged advertising after the initial buy on any advertisers at AVSAlert since I know I dont have the time to put into it right now. When I get time to update it regularly and get mroe traffic flowing there I will then start charging again :o)))
I highly recommend nakid networking in tubs... mergers always come up
and opportunities for new acquisitions are right there under the surface
waiting to be explored... ;^)
Why pay $0.05 for 100s of webmasters that gripe, complain, and don't produce when you can get 10-20 that will actually have some common fucking business sense and will make your program some money?

After having a team of attorneys review the following post for libel, torte, breach, malaise, invective, false representation, etc and being granted conditionary approval, I am making my introduction to this board. This only cost me a 100k, but I am sure it will be worth it:
"Hello. I hope everyone is having a very pleasant day. I wish you all success in your endeavors. I hope one day we can realize peace on Earth and goodwill to all."
Snoops,
those of us who can provide sponsors with the best values will survive the down turn adult industry is heading into.

Back to work now before the boss lady gets irked... think she will buy the 'networking' angle?
We haven't done that, but we have added board icons beside posts that mention our advertisers names/programs/sites/urls for that very reason - feedback on that is that those are garnering more clicks than the banners we shove in webmasters' faces.
I don't know the plans of other resource centers - nor do I believe we'll all share them on an open board LOL
But, one thing we're trying to do is apply the creativity we preach to webmasters selling porn to resource advertising.
Why it hasn't been done sooner, I'll never understand. All of us know that the days of slapping up a banner and making a mint are for the most part gone, so why do we ask our advertisers to do exactly that?
Hey guys,
We're looking to add some more audio and text stories to the members areas. Does anyone out there have any recommendations to pick up some good stories?
why does nobody do banner advertising at the BOTTOM of the message boards?
I get here & i want to read the boards. Til i'm done there is a fat chance that I'm going to click on a link.
What about an ad after every 10 posts?
Seems like that same creativity that gets applied to selling porn doesn't get put into webmaster resources.

I'd love to watch/participate in a discussion on the value of webmaster traffic. To be perfectly blunt, it's been a crapshoot since I've been in the biz. Very difficult from both the resource owners' and the advertisers' points of view to determine ad rates, return and worth.
***********************
that is CORRECT!!!!
I just saw the stats and clicks our sponsors recieved and something occured to me:
they do NOT pay us for just clicks!
They pay us for the place to hang out wiht others movers and shakers,
make the deals UNDER the board,
;-)
see each other faces and listen them talk,
and one can't measure that in clicks values.
I don't know why jayman got upset when I told him about $56 per webmastering click....
our sponsors pay $200 per webmastering click and up,
but only those who can afford it
;-)))
small correction...JohnIP got it cheap,
he only pays $184.56 per click,
but than again he has Dravyk who talks alot!
;-)))
hmmmm, although I agree Tom is tops - gotta say BossHawg is also the shitz :)
One of the best guys with one of the best operations in the resource biz :)
And I can say I knew him when :)
BTW, bryan - congrats on the marriage bud :)
Serge - thanx for the assistance earlier - much appreciated.
Data - hmmmm, well, I do have some opinions (as always)
Some spots are only good for one thing and that's branding - and branding's value is determined by each advertiser - and, for some reason, these are the spots advertisers want most - why? big dick contest? (shrug) dunno, but it's a fact.
Clicks - some platforms send clicks WAY better than others - for instance, banneroverdrive outperforms all of our other advertising hands down when it comes to clicks - one account has a 1/32 ratio on 200k imps with a good banner design. We have to rely on feedback from the advertisers on what those clicks do however - and, one thing advertisers are um, hard to pin down on, is feedback. Also, I think the advertisers' sites - navigation, quality of product and service AND quality of webmaster support has a direct bearing on how well those clicks "perform".
Imps - again, this is branding. Coca Cola I'm sure would argue that branding is paramount, however, I'm sure many advertisers would argue that getting that webmaster to their site and making them money is the bottom line - and name recognition is secondary. Gotta be a happy medium somewhere.
I'd love to watch/participate in a discussion on the value of webmaster traffic. To be perfectly blunt, it's been a crapshoot since I've been in the biz. Very difficult from both the resource owners' and the advertisers' points of view to determine ad rates, return and worth.

I met Pato while I was at Florida State University.
Did you know he lives in a wealthy upperclass neighborhood in Virginia? A friend of mine was his next door neighbor. We hung out in his bus... But I left when they lit up. I don't like any kind of smoke.. much less pot smoke.
ICQ? Naw... too much crap for my tastes... I've got this new thing called a 'phone'... amazing device really; it plugs in to this jack deely-bob right in the wall!
Didn't see no sharks in Daytona... just two geriatric gentlemen getting their ass kicked by ten foot waves... found some Denny's pics the other day... *wink-wink*
My calc works on base 10 not base 'Serge' so I still get 2 for the answer... Please send me the Russian Plug-In (and no used sex toys smelling of goats this time)... lol

Got some new shit coming soon from PR and with the new DB in place we can track all ad spots and are quite happy with the results thus far.
Thanks for the recommendation and I may just send them back to ya :) We got a full house on PR advertising right now so it may be time to adjust the rates according to the traffic and impressions per spot. Some spots are outperforming while others are underperforming :))
What you think the going rate on webmaster traffic is ...per click??per CPM?? or per signed up webmaster??? I will throw out data if other sites will as well :))
Will you join us in the MaxCashLIve Chatroom tonight? I am going to be reviewing sites of webmasters who call in. Heck, You can call in and have Oprano reviewed.. lol..

Microsoft must be kicking your ass royally in the plug-in wars if you have to resort to posting on adult webmaster chat boards... In my experience, those that have to call themselves a 'Player' aren't... then again, I'm just a redneck sheep fucker so what do I know... ;^Ð
Serge...No need to join the rukas on seeing who has the bigger dick stats wise.
All my sponsors since I have released the database version of PR will have access to their stats (banner impressions and click thrus) from advertising at PornResource and can measure there dollars that way :))
How much is a webmaster click worth?? that is the ultimate question.
Would a sponsor want their banner viewed 5,000 times with 1 click or viewed a 1,000 times with 5 clicks??
What is more important to a sponsor, clicks or impressions?? speak now or forever hold your peace :))
than we went for a kosher bacon sandwich.

I'm a top-shelf Dolomitesque Super-Player like you, with more cash and free time than the Donald! Who would have thought that's all there was to it! Here I so stupidly thought you had to run your business in a mature, professional manner and deal with customers in a professional and businesslike fashion in order to succeed.... But NO!! All I have to do is get high and Fuck! YEAH!!! Serge, I hate to say this, but I QUIT!!
Does anyone think I need to explain sarcasm to this shitstain or was my rant good enough?
Just to clarify Serge's post below about adultresourcesites.com, it's actually Adult Content News (http://www.adultcontentnews.com/) and Adult Income News (http://www.adultincomenews.com/) that will be making traffic stats available to current and prospective advertisers, starting on or about August 1.
"What's a Player. Well, its pretty simple. Work smart, work hard, get laid and I mean by an attractive person"
Well that remark pretty well confirms the anon is male, young, and not too bright. What does getting laid have to do with running a sucessful business??
Edd, thank you for confirming my spelling :) You get three brownies points and a box of.....well I cant say here...LOL
That's another important lesson, if you're a Real Player, you don't need to follow the accepted rules of grammar. After all, laws meant to be broked.
