It is not the point of 'winning an argument, it is opportunity of listening to other views with an open mind.

We are all "the sum total of our experiences" and we need to expand sometimes (now termed as thinking out of the box) You can hear something 30 times and it means nothing to you - but at the right time, place, and circumstances - it can take on new meaning and become very important.

"Well the idea that a good product will market itself is crap."

It pains me - but I have to agree. There really was a time that "build it and they will come" worked. The generations have evolved into different thinking now. It takes a much different strategy nowdays. On the short term, the guy who carries the big stick seems to prevail... on the long term, that is not always true. So in essence - both are right. It is on to the goals and the business plan.

JR...it is true, nothing ventured, nothing gained. But absolutely no fear of faiilure will lead to bad business decisions, which will lead to failure.

So what you are saying is true, but not in the extremes you are talking about.

Even in sports you have to know when to pass or assist. it isnt always driving to the goal that makes you succeed.

I hear a lot of talk about big companies and their lack of innovation and dear of failure.

Which companies, like GM? or maybe GE? Proctor and Gamble?:) these "dinosaurs" are fairing quite a bit better than some of their younger counterparts.

Business leaders always ignore new ideas for a simple reason... at first, they don't make enough money to be worth it.

If someone came to you with a new idea that would increase your income by $20/day, but took an hour a day of your time, would you bother? Some small guy would... and maybe he'll grow it into a $2000/day idea.

In the old days, big companies ignored new ideas forever and were swept away as dinosaurs when the idea went big... Digital Equipment ignored personal computers, ended up being bought by a personal computer company (Compaq).

Today, the dinosaurs have much better radar screens... when little guy starts to get big, the big guys buy him out (sometimes solely to kill the technology) or copy him and squeeze him out of the market. Microsoft does this a lot...

Give me a proven business idea over something innovative anyday
__________________________________

i do not really agree with this. business, like everything evolves, thus those who are innovative and creative are the first to profit from the evolutionary process.

those who spot the trends and manage to map the evolutionary path can take advantage of it with new ideas, products and services, based on sound business sense, risk and proper execution. Often they can do so when their competitors are sticking to the "proven" ideas.

the adult biz has been operating on "proven business ideas" for a few years now without evolution or change or even managing to move in a positive direction. That is why it is coming to a halt.

the customer is smarter now and YOU trained him to find FREE porn... the same thing you are trying to sell him.

how is that for a fucking paradox?

it seems to me that those who will be the future leaders of this business as everywhere else, will be the ones with vision, who are creative and innovative... those who had ideas and took chances.

this business was once heralded as being the driving force of the Internet with streaming media, online cc processing etc. When was the last time we saw something new and innovative? remember when trade shows were about technologies and new products... not booze, hookers and cocaine?

people will ALWAYS pay for sex. but i think that it is becoming less and less clear who will be selling it in the near future and who the leaders will be.

the playing field has never been as level as it is now.

the wonderful thing about industry leaders, is that once they become leaders, they stop acting like leaders. They start being careful, they stop taking risks and they become conservative. The people at the top get comfortable and lose touch with everyone in the field and with the changes taking place in the market.

that it when it is everyones chance to be a leader.

that is when "proven business ideas" are your best friend... thats their weakness.

you will succeed by doing something different.

JR i awoke in the middle of the night realizing that i do not have a favorite Norwegian food.

Just for clarification.....

My Post # 2525 was not a put down of Meat and Aga. It was a comment on the list of "Hall of fame" posters that are there.

Serge.....pick the top 10 or 20 posters on Netpond with talent and then list the top 10 or 20 posters here with talent.

I think when one compares those 2 lists......

KK,
I apologize in advance for a long post but....

Since I came back from Florida-
I lost 10 more pounds and I do not
exercize, especially after Oprano opened and eat like a piggy.

The body just got used to new lifestyle and keeps on shrinking.

The same with tag lines.

I am a marketing guy,
always been and always will be,
it's AUTOMATIC.

I love to promote!
(yeah, yeah, Don King, we hear you,
you too!)

Giants are not born,
giants are created!

With no exceptions taken,
we know EVERY sponsor we have personally,
and we know MORE about each of them and their proggies than those banners and buttons can tell,
and that is where the tag lines come in!

We like to make money the old fashioned way-
(in my best immitation of the old commercial)
WE EARN IT!

On or very shortly after August 16th 1999 there were thousands of .SEX domains running on TLDNS. I suggest Jerry Harris might wish to research and obtain copies of DNS records and background on the TLDNS service - it should strengthen his defence considerably...
