My take on the day.
It's been a very interesting day. Starting out with the continuation of the great radio debate. We are left with this pearl to ponder: "If radio shows are so great...why doesn't Meni have a radio show?"
VoodooChile was having a problem with Eudora and Lisa inserted a quick remedy. (And who says this board isn't helpful)
The excitement of the day really began when Dravyk compared the amount of hits AOE has received from Oprano, to the amount received from another board that opened the same day. This set off a chain of events that altered the very structure of Oprano. The pissing began, and what an exiting piss it was. The culmination was when Serge decided to remove the link to AOE and replace it with Boss Hawg's PornResource. But that wasn't all; He threw more out, added more in.
Serge claimed the definitive What's in and What's out at Oprano. Being pithy is still very in.
Jenna conversions are still in question. Meni is still in question, but he's holding up well.
Brad Shaw has acquired a new content company and the consensus of the board is that it's kick ass content. And Brad's radio appearance went very well.

Morgan and I have been throwing around this idea for ages. Most of the "big time" webmaster resources are run by people who've relied on newbies or partners to do their work, or they've never done the work at all. Novel thing to actually have free site webmasters who make a good living piping quality traffic, to run such a thing. Forsooth!

I like AVS. I like anywhere that will give me X amount of moolah for X number of clicks. So long as it's ethical, I'm there. I don't care if it's virtual albacore sandwiches, AVS, dialers or per click. If the stats interface agrees with my system and they give me the maximum value per click (whatever the going rate is), then I'm there.

That's until I launch me own program, that is. :-) Then I'll get to stress out and BS about numbers like everyone else.

I would say system wide, our ratio is about 1 in 225. So that would equal almost 7 cents a click. Ratios can vary widely since every webmaster's front end is unique.

Then there are premium programs like us or AC Gold. These recur monthly like a paysite. We pay $15.50 for each sale, recurring. Members generally stay longer than paysites, there is a lower monthly cost and there is a greater variety of sites to look at.

Per click I don't know, to my knowledge no AVS pays per click.

I think it's easier to make money with AVS sites than it is with paysites. Let's face it, most webmasters cannot run a large paysite. Too much content, cost in feeds, etc. With an AVS they can build smaller sites but still retain their members. I know many webmasters making close to six figures a month building AVS sites. I don't know many people making that much money by sending traffic to sponsors.

To answer your question, I'm sure Adult Check is in the Top 25. CyberAge probably the top 50. Give VIP another year and maybe we'll crack the top also. :-)

You're not wasting your time with AVS, PROVIDED THAT you know how to upsell the AVS customer from the AVS site to your paysite. Make sure that the niches match, that you have no traffic leaks in the tour, that you provide a compelling argument within the content section of your AVS site to get the surfer to "step up the ladder," and that your AVS site isn't SO good that they don't need to step up the ladder. ;D

AC should review your site and get back to you within 48 hours I think. I don't believe they work weekends though. Definitely aren't wasting your time with AVS. Lot's of money to be made with AVS sites, just ask ThrobX! :-)
