He had a funny accent, and was small, short, fat, and round. His first week in school he got jumped by 5 kids. Really shitty thing for a 6 year old, but he always remembered it. His parents sent him to learn how to fight. I remember him taking it all soo serious. Then he got into a few fights, with anyone, just enough to show that he wasn't scared anymore. No one wants to terrorize or pick on someone who is willing to fight back no matter what. I know through the years, moving from the city to the suburbs, changing schools, he had to show force, only once or a few times, just to make an example. That's all you need, be willing to pay the price for yourself. As the old saying goes, "It is better to die on your feet and on your terms, than it is to live on your knees and scared of living". I'm pretty sure you can see how this story correlates with current events. You should see that old friend of mine now, he grew up to be a pretty decent guy. =o) AAA Mon, 24 Sep - 14:50:24 24.218.204.233 Post #: 19983 ![]() OK I am looking over at the General's new program and am very dubious how anyone can pay out $70 and up to $100. What is the catch? I read on sexhit.com ;SexHit Seventy :: This extremely high paying program pays $70 per FREE SIGNUP. You will be paid for every free trial you send. $40 will be paid in the first monthly payout, $20 in the second month and $10 in the third month giving you a WHOPPING $70 per free signup!! The member does not need to stay for you to receive the $70 per FREE SIGNUP - you are paid even if the member cancels during the free trial. This ensures we can pay you the highest possible payout per member while ensuring maximum fraud control. Payment is for the first site only - webmasters are not paid for exit traffic under SexHit Seventy." This sounds to me like it would be impossible to do. If I read this clearly, if a member join for free, then cancels the next week... I am still payed $40 the month of the sale, then $30 in the future. How can this be done? Mike AI New things everyday!!! A whole new look coming too!

only the ones that picked Green Bay with 9 need to go for the tiebreaker -- any of them that picked Washington cannot beat Meni.

KK conversion, money, all that good stuff... ![]() heheh....i missed Keystone and you missed Taylor mutt OK the people who have 9 victories, and who may have a chance to be a weekly winner and thus need to pick the total amount of points of Monday Night's Game, without going over are: RB, Mojo, Steve, Sykkboy, BPJ, Keystone Of course Meni has 10 and has a chance to pop 11, and thus be no tie. Mike AI Bomb Bin Laden, Football Pickem, Great news, all here!!
it was a stretch for me too mutt -- then I realized I should have used covered instead of wins and I hoped you'd come back and clarify it.
Mon, 24 Sep - 14:08:27 64.38.194.18 Post #: 19975
So now we know who needs to come up with a total -- those 7 people :) KK conversion, money, all that good stuff... doh.....i was just going to post ........ what KK said. I got a headache. I'm hoping Washington wins, Meni wins then. Steve, Taylor, Sykkboy, bpj, Mojo and RB all would tie Meni if Green Bay wins or covers. mutt
"KK, RB and Meni with 20 wins"
Mon, 24 Sep - 14:01:24 64.38.194.18 Post #: 19973
--------------------- That tie is for the year so far, not anything to worry about at the moment. What needs points to break the tie should be Meni with 10 wins this week -- if Green Bay loses he wins outright. RB and anyone else with 9 wins that has GB to cover should also be putting in a points total since they would be tied with Meni at 10 wins each. I'm one short (8) this week so I shouldn't be picking any totals for a win, since I can't win :( KK conversion, money, all that good stuff... ![]()

With only the Monday Night game left for Week Two, it's a three way tie for the NFL Pickem lead. KK, RB and Meni with 20 wins. If Washington covers the spread tomorrow night against Green Bay Meni is the leader, if Green Bay covers it will be KK and RB as co-leaders. Also weekly winner isn't decided yet, Meni leads now with 10 wins but a bunch of people have 9. mutt Sun, 23 Sep 2001 11:19:40 - IP: 24.112.37.86 - Post # 19892 OldFold Auction You guys have got to be on your toes for the pick'em game!! The script does default to the home teams BUT it appears as if u have to at least log in between weeks and view picks. Still can compete for Sadsack Award tho. Finished reading a great book last night, which outlines a social organization theory for the rise of religious fundamentalism, "The Lucifer Principle" by Howard Bloom. Highly recommended. The only thing I seriously disagreed with was the "hundred virgins in paradise" sexual imprint for the suicide bombers being their main impetus. The hijackers in Florida had lapdances the night before. >80,000 US casualties on Okinawa. >60,000 on the Phillipines. Yup, Colin, exactly. One of them was my uncle Claude, aged 19. I still have his watch, which cracked and stopped the minute the shell hit him. Whenever wars begin to seem impersonal, I take this out and remind myself. Uncle Serge, cj, Colin, kk, mutt, and jr, well said as always. And anyone else I missed. All the smart people post here. BTW, did anyone think they'd see the day when the Russian PM would be the US emissary in regional discussions? BTW2, the British forces are in Afhanistan now, so everyone might want to send them a good thought. While we're at it -- I've donated a 1 hour psychic reading with one of my mediums (these people are authentic psychics who work with people one-to-one, NOT on 900 lines). I'll even do the reading myself, if you like. It's up to $150 now -- good grief, you know what Miss Cleo would charge for this??? $300!!! C'mon, guys, it's for a good cause. There are some GREAT bargains to be had over there...amazing ones. Check it out. Melody Go here, get read

Losing (to injury) running back Jamal Lewis and kick returner specialist Jermaine Lewis are both major blows to the team. However, there's still enough firepower in this team to reach the playoffs. Still, I'm a little worried about an offense featuring Elvis Grbac throwing about 35-45 times a game. What got them into the Super Bowl last season was power running, featuring Jamal Lewis knocking people over while keeping the turnovers down. They'll rebound. You can take my word for it. :-)) Lord Baltimore They got lucky

There was no one reason for dropping the bombs on Japan. There were many.
Mon, 24 Sep - 06:39:48 24.164.51.72 Post #: 19927
For example, as the US fought up the chain of islands leading to the Big Island, Japan defended better and better, civilians arming themselves and fighting to the death. Battle on the main island would have been horrific. 80,000 US casualties on Okinawa. 60,000 on the Phillipines. First and foremost, it is a government's job to protect it's people. Limiting the losses of your own soldiers is certainly a rational decision. The decision to drop on Hiroshima and then Nagasaki did just that. Colin Interesting TGP2 discussions today

Truman dropped the bombs to show Russia -- who was well on their way to attempted world domination even then -- that we had atomic bombs and the balls to use them.

Japan just happened to make a handy dandy target since they were an island and we were finishing up a way with them. KK **************** KK, that's what they were telling us in high school, this was soviet point of view. as for Japan being subdued....I don't think so. A Bomb stopped the war, REGARDLESS of the reasons it was dropped Serge

for God himself and to who dying a horrible death is not an issue because they will be rewarded for their deeds in Paradise." And that's just about it. A sizeable number of the global islamic community (fundamentalist and their stirred-up wannabe's) will adopt this cause and jump on the bandwagon - GUARANTEED 100% Then what? This is likely to make WW1 and WW2 look like a golf game. Oh, and... stock market? what stock market? Marty
you want to know something funny that is also similar?

a kid used to throw rocks at me and beat me up at the bus stop when i was about 13. He was several years older and much bigger than me. i talked to my parents about it and they did not do anything. i told the school about it and they did not do anything. i realized that until i was seriously hurt, they would not react. I decided that coming home with a massive head wound from a large rock thrown at me, was not a sensible way to exert pressure on people to stop him. i gave careful thought about what to do and realized that a show of force was the only thing he would respond to. i hid a lead filled pipe in my jacket and went to the bus stop. He began his routine of throwing rocks at me as i approached but i continued forward. he then approached me and told me he was going to kick my ass. i ran. i ran in the opposite direction knowing he would follow. then i pulled out my pipe, stopped and split his head open and left him lying there in a pool of blood. my parents grounded me. his parents pressed charges. the school suspended me. the arguement was that i should have tried to talk to him first. the only people that took my side were the police. BUT, had i been seriously hurt first everyone would have understood and took my side. Fuck that!!!! what about me? That is the paradox of peace and trying to resolve everything through peaceful means. You place yourself at a dissadvantage to those who want to hurt you. justreading ![]()
i just took your post to mean that there was no threat against the US. Yet, he dropped the bomb anyway out of malice.

Perl Harbor was US soil. It was attacked. Alaska was US soil, it was attacked. Their intentions were quite clear and umistakable and they were every bit as devoted and fanatical as the terrorists today. the threat was real. the choice was again, us or them. I agree that it is a situation similar to today. But the situation itself, is much more grave. The choice is not territory against agressors or one economic system against another, or about conflicting political ideologies. The choice is humanity, civility and civilization against murderers who want to see all of us dead. for me and many, it is a simple choice with only one answer. justreading Russia was part of Truman's decision. But the time to end the war had come. God knows how many years it would have lasted without dropping the Bomb on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. mutt Bizarre remark? Fraid not.....read it again. The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, the military. They may have been a ruthless warring country at the time with designs on world domination and the defeat of America a prime objective but comparing attacks on the Alaska of the 1940's and once again "The sunken ships, destroyed subs, downed planes, artillery placements and japanese graveyards are all still there." more conventional warfare on American military istallations and hardware. Truman dropped the A Bombs because it was time to end a war that would have gone on for years and cost more American lives and money against an enemy who just wouldn't quit. Comparing hijacking civil airliners full of passengers into the World Trade Center full of 30,000 to 50,000 innocent undefended civilians , attacking the Pentagon itself, an attempt on the White House and Camp David and plans to unleash chemical and/or biological agents to wipe out who knows, 100's of thosands of civilians, children included, to Japan's actions in WW11 is BIZARRE. The point of the post was that we are near the same point and decision Truman had. One more attack on our soil and there will be no more options for Bush. It will have to be done. Because like the Japanese this is an enemy that won't be stopped, there is no negotiating with religious lunatics who believe they are fighting for God himself and to who dying a horrible death is not an issue because they will be rewarded for their deeds in Paradise. mutt

jr -- I agree with alot of your comments, but in the case of bombing Japan, my take on it is that Truman didn't drop the bomb to subdue the Japanese, they were for all intents and purposes subdued. Truman dropped the bombs to show Russia -- who was well on their way to attempted world domination even then -- that we had atomic bombs and the balls to use them. Japan just happened to make a handy dandy target since they were an island and we were finishing up a way with them. KK
Truman dropped the A Bomb on Japan and at that point the American public and soil wasn't even at risk.

_________________________________ this is kind of a bizarre remark. and completely innacurate. Prior to that, Japan destroyed the Pacific fleet in a surprise attack in Perl Harbor killing almost 3000 people and in case you forgot or were not aware, they bombed, then invaded Alaska with the intention of controlling the Pacific and launching further invasions against the US. that was not exactly a gesture of friendship... it was an act of war. their intentions were quite clear and with regards to the A-bomb, options were few. there were no smart weapons, no cruise missiles and no stealth bombers, no satellite intelligence. just superior firepower and the will to use it. it was a fight for existence on this earth against a country that had already attacked/invaded/occupied China, Singapore, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Australia, Russia, South America etc, etc, etc... not to mention countless Pacific Islands. they were every bit as fanatical as the Taleban and Muslim extremists, with the same intentions... only they dreamed to die for the Emperor and the Empire. they were ruthless and ruthlessly slaughtered millions of men, women and children in the most inhumane and unimmaginable ways possible and would have slaughtered more if it was possible. Notably in China, which among other shamefull actions and historical events, Japan has erased completely from their own history books. People remember Perl Harbor. No one remembers Alaska. I was born there. The sunken ships, destroyed subs, downed planes, artillery placements and japanese graveyards are all still there. To illustrate their dedication more than 10,000 Japanese troops were surrounded (on either the island of Attu or Kiska) by US troops... at which point they all killed themselves and only 2-3 survived and were captured. they were little different than the enemy today. except they were more dangerous. they were given an ultimatum... stop agression against the US, "or face complete and total destruction" THEY CHOSE. Truman did not choose for them. justreading ![]()
