When I was listening to the Stern show this morning from New York some of the crew had been volunteering down at Ground Zero and came back with desperate pleas from the scene that they needed all sorts of stuff like food and beverages, ice, cell phone chargers, and most desperately
saline solution because the tiny debris floating in the air was lacerating people's eyes.

Which got me to thinking..... why in
a state of emergency should rescue teams have to make a plea to the general public for things like this? Why shouldn't it be that during an emergency that all businesses in the country are required to provide the goverment with whatever is needed, at cost. If saline solution was needed so badly shouldn't Baush and Lomb have been immediately called and ordered to have truckloads of the stuff on the road within minutes? It's not asking companies to donate free goods and services, just that when your government needs
you and whatever you manufacture it is your duty to provide it at what it costs you to manufacture or buy it.

One of the Florida flight instructors made the comment that with some background they could learn to fly the plane w/MS Flight Simulator - remember - they didn't have to worry about take off, landing, fuel, etc. - just keeping altitude and hitting a pretty large target. Not saying it's something *I* could do, but apparently, it can be done :(

It's also been mentioned the kind of mindset these men have - they were literally training for 1-2 years to commit suicide - that's a pretty strong hold you have on 18-24 minds to control them like that.

To do our part in assisting the movement, DarkDollars will be donating all monies earned on Saturday to the American Red Cross (since Saturdays are usually our busiest days). We realize it's not much, but even if every program out there donated a % of sales to this, it'll be well worth it.

I also agree with Sharpie about spending and buying. Go see a movie, take a stress break. I'm no psychiatrist, but I'd asume constant watching of this footage could lead to something simialr to combat shock. I know that last night, I just couldn't bear to watch the footage anymore. I had to turn it to Comedy Central...not that I felt like laughing, but I needed a stress releiver. So go out and see a movie, rent a video, buy some stock, etc. Even better, go buy some first aid kits and donate them to the Red Cross...go to your local shopping mall and buy an extra set of blankets or clothing and donate that...
