Geeze - I had no idea about the gas and rush to buy food :( I live on a mountain and haven't been into town yet. Who knows what the trailer park toothless rednecks are doing around here.....

About 15 minutes ago, a small storm came through quickly (after a perfect day) with one crash of thunder and then a couple of minutes later, a HUGE lightning strike and VERY LOUD crash of thunder. Needless to say, my heart stopped!

If anything else happens, I'm going to pick up my son - I know that sounds wussy, but this crap scares me.

Toolz, seems that rural wyoming, although in shock and sick to their stomachs - have managed to keep an "ostrich" view of things such as "can't happen here"....

Except for one so far - our local school - which houses grades k-12...graduating classes of about 10 every year - wouldn't allow the kids outside for recess today...

Is that paranoia or being proactive? Since my children are in that school - leaning towards proactive.

If it had that affect on a school in a town of 150 - can't imagine the affect it is having on larger cities.

Living in Pittsburgh, I have heard far more reports about the plane that crashed here than most people. Was it shot down? I don't know if it was but there were tons of reports of people hearing sonic booms. Fighter jets produce these, commercial planes don't. Also there was an explosion on the plane 45 minutes before the crash. A 911 operator was on the phone with a passenger when the initial explosion occured.

This whole thing is making me sick to my stomach.

Okay just went down to my local little convenience store to replish my toboacco and sunflower seed habit. What do I see, a sea of cars attempting to get gas at $2.00 a gallon. This is a small gas station and there were 50 cars waiting for 8 pumps. They're cashing everyone out outside so inside it's just me and the clerk and a couple hurried customers grabbing up all the canned dog food and trail mix they can find, fortunately no one had been stocking up on tobacco and sunflower seeds, there was plenty for me to horde all to myself. When I asked the cashier why the paranoia people can always ride a bike she replied that gas was going to $4.00 a gallon tomorrow. Rather than try to argue with the dimwit on the basis of not knowing what country attacked us, knowing full well that our oil production numbers could be increased yadda yadda yadda I left her to stew. Anyone else seeing the human spirit of random paranoia in your hometown?

Meni - It was on the news that a woman who worked for the Justice dept, called her husband on cell (who also is govt and was an atty for Bush)and told him that they had been hijacked, all passengers moved to the back of the plane.

I think this debunks that we shot any planes down.

1) Terrorists have already tried to take out the World Trade Center.
2) Attack on the Pentagon.

This is the most fucked up thing I have ever seen. When I woke up this afternoon and went to fire up my home page and saw the headline I thought it had to be a joke or something.

The response when we find out who was behind this should be swift and severe.

Vick, a story on MSNBC said that they thought the plane that crashed near Pittsburgh may have been headed towards Camp David. That could be what they have been talking about. I heard on CNN or MSNBC or some channel that I was flipping between that there had been a plane circling Dulles airport. I think this is what people heard earlier that made them think one was near Dallas. Dulles and Dallas sound a lot alike. A lot of unconfirmed rumors and stories that I hope get cleared up. Heard reports of a plane being shot down but nothing to confirm it. Hope it was not true...

The plane that crashed in PA went down about 60 miles from here. Someone on the plane dialed 911 on his cell phone and told the cops that he was on a plane that had been hijacked. They were trying to get info from him when he said there was an explosion and the plane was filling with smoke. At that point they lost contact with him and the plane crashed 45 minutes later. Sounds like a bomb went off early.
