Hi everybody – we had a filesize issue on the server earlier this week, but if you were checking out the Youtube clone website at http://217.160.178.16/clixo/index.php, you can go ahead and upload easily again. The scripts can take video inputs for conversion to Flash on the site - wmv, avi, mov, divx, mpg, asf, xvid etc, but the server needs upgrading before taking RealMedia (which the code can handle, but the server core cannot :P ).

To get it installed and running usually costs just $500, but the sun is shining, and the World Cup is on, so I’m feeling generous!

Well... at the moment I'm knee-deep in content management and other tech stuff (I seriously do not know how the hell Megan did everything by herself!), but we'll be down in San Diego this weekend and will likely tag team anyone who asks. ;-) Megan's our new VP of sales on the DVD side, and we're still in the midst of transitioning all of her web duties over, so she's still doing the affiliate duties.

The woman's a friggin' dynamo, and I'm actually looking forward to spending some time with her OUTSIDE of the office, where we scarcely get to complete a thought before duty calls!

Pornotube is yet another very powerful marketing along the lines of xpeeps if you use it properly. Like Jace said...if you own your own site it is better than free hosted galleries.

It combines the usage of stills, audio and video to be shared/mass marketed to the world of surfmasters.

Ive been highlighting a video of the day from there the past week.
FusionX's crew did a great job but keep in mind this thing is still in beta...theres a lot more to come.

In the meantime....load up your own videos and etc. Again if you own your own site its free promotion for all of those free clips you have.

I still don't see this as an overall positive for the adult industry. Surfer uploaded content, much of it stolen copyrighted content is going to dominate. I've heard the "type in traffic" argument before, and I'm not convinced that it generates any significant number of sales.

I can see why AEBN is doing this, surfer traffic will potentially be huge and so is the potential ad revenue. But at who's expense? In my opinion this undermines many others in the industry in order to make a buck.

Policing the copyrighted content on such a site is impossible. Other than the hotlinking aspect I see very little difference between this and fusker. I'm very disappointed that AEBN is involved.

Take your time. Pornotube is in beta. We're testing the conversion process queue, the server loads, tuning the database, etc.

There's a whole slew of features that haven't been added. Many of these center on sponsor and affiliate support.

In the same manner as xpeeps, it's built on the model that everyone makes money. If you've used xpeeps, you know you can plug in your aebn ref code for movie sales. Stars, producers, directors, etc, can plug in their AEBN ids and show their content. If they plug in a ref code they get paid as an affiliate as well. They double dip!

Unlike Rolo at GFY likes to say, it's not about giving away free porn, and it's sure as hell not about stealing content from studio and sponsor partners.

He's clueless about how AEBN works. He's baiting, and I'm not biting

[edit] Forgot to add affiliates to this. Someone over at GFY said the affiliate model is dead. Nonsense. We've been rolling out massive revisions of our products. We're rolling out all new sales tools soon (soon is a relative term!), and we may be expanding the affiliate program in a huge way.

Beta Phase II features should be rolled out over the next week (maybe two because of the holiday) that will dispel a lot of the fear and loathing you see going on. Of course, I'm talking about the real fear and loathing - not the manufactured nonsense spouted by certain people who have agendas.

My internal motto for x/qpeeps is "everyone makes money". Pornotube is no different. Actually, not everyone makes money. If you partner with AEBN you have the opportunity. Otherwise, sorry! For example, we won't let "Big Bob's Streaming Pile of VOD" use the money making features of the site.

The goals of the site are:

* Support our cash company partners.
* Support our studio/manufacturer partners
* Support our affiliates
* Generate shitloads of traffic for all of our partners (and ourselves)
* Keep fusionx gainfully employed

BTW - that's not in any specific order

No one else has the balls or the bandwidth to do this on a large scale.

Worst part about it was the same article talked about Veoh.com dropping all the porn. Then the fleshbot article showed up in Veoh's forum. It was mad dogs on steak for a while there.

So today, fleshbot turned their traffic firehose on xtube.com, and again mentioned pornotube. I don't know how xtube fared - they just added hardware and it seemed to be ok - but our traffic went way up again, though it never really slowed since the first article..

Another site got a mention on fleshbot today - a blog called http://www.queerbites.com. It had a nice shot of traffic as well. This was just a link under the article but the traffic is still heavy. Fleshbot rocks!!

xtube has a good model. Their new hardware seems to be doing the job. Once you get past the front page the product placement thins out and there's a lot of good content - mostly amateur stuff.

Our model is really entirely different. We don't directly sell product on these sites - it's all referral based. Plus, as mentioned many times, we let all of our affiliates and partners make money on our bandwidth. It's simple - the better they do, the better we do.

If they're stealing your content, they have to be members. Unless you already give away full length videos.. if they are members, you got paid.

If they post your non-public content on any of our sites, it will get reported, and it will get removed.. the user reporting system on xpeeps and qpeeps is working really really well. Why? Because other industry members hate seeing that shit and report it quickly.

Kazaa and Guba are completely different animals. You're talking apples and fruitcakes here.

The beta site has only been up for a couple weeks. It's waay too early to make conclusions about the biz model, or the way the site will be used, or the way we'll handle things. The sky is not falling.

Who's going to report it? I work hard enough already without having to browse the p2p sites daily looking for content and then sending emails asking to have it removed. Here's an idea. Dont' accept content from anyone that can't prove they own the rights to it.

We're adding a straight/gay/all switch.
