I read something in a magazine back in 99 about how people were making money selling traffic. The title of the article was "cash for clicks", so I set about learning how to build websites.

I flashed my first site of at C.O.N.D.O.M, after the roasting and piss taking I really learned how to build a site that made money.

Seeing miserable people standing on the train platfoms each morning .. lifeless faces drained of any happiness, crumpled suits, white socks *shudder* hating to go into work just to pay their mortgage .. waiting for the day when they can retire to get some bollocks gift from the company, then WHEEEE they really get to enjoy their life .. fuck that ..

Moved to a different country in 97, it was either internet porn or trade oil futures.
I went with oil until 99 then the market got more difficult to read, so went with porn.

I was retired.

(The third time I retired. The money always burned through 100 times faster than I thought it would LOL)

My brother was fuck assing around on a computer in 96 when I was living in Florida.I taunted him.He countered with "Look there's porn"

I looked , noticed counters and ads and thought there is money in this!! LOL

Within a few months I had stolen tons of content and had a top 10 site on WSS.

Was making fuck all money however LOL

Then Xpics offered to take me exclusive for 15k a mth.I asked whether I should take the offer on YNOT.

Philip Arumbula and stonelaw phoned me , tried to broker deals. The General and Fantasyman called and gave me some coaching , and within weeks my gross went from hundreds a month to several thousands. ( BA(Hons) - internet porn LOL)

Then I started getting coached by Serge and Scottpb and the several thousands a month turned into thousands per day. (Master of Porn)

Then whilst still being coached by Serge and Scotty I acquired Netpond (PhD of porn..thesis "Shaving the crap out of webmasters")

;-))))

So I came to Oprano and now I'm Emiritus Professor - Internet Porn - Scams

Seriously...

Easiest fucking business I've come accross.

Well.......

Without going into a huge amount of personal stuff, I'm really not capable of the whole 9 - 5 deal where they expect you to be there every day, and on top of that, expect you to be there on time.

So, after a mind blowout about...98, I started thinking of ways I could support myself and the boys that didnt' involve a 50+ mile round trip a day with overtime, etc. I was online at home from 97 on, and knew that somewhere in the computer was the answer. I then started going to school. (Christ, if I could undo that decision, and just have went straight into porn!)

So I went to school for 3 years. Picked up a couple of associates degrees. The realization that I was eventually going to have to do something started hammering me on the head. It was about that time that the notion of porn started to finally seep into the vast mental wasteland aka my brain.

I decided to 'learn porn'. I had never seen a paysite, a tgp,...anything. The simplest things would throw me for days trying to figure them out. Like how to easily mirror pages...keep a recip database...etc. Finally I got onto the adult boards, and I lurked a good deal before I started posting. Began roughly Feb 04, and went full time adult by Feb 05. And today I'm with a company that is run by great people, and I still have time to do my other work.

The beauty of it is, if my boys need me, I can be there. My oldest is at Purdue now, but if my little one is sick, big deal. If the classroom needs a trip volunteer, I'm there. I'm at home when the boy walks in the door each day. If I'm having one of my 'bad days' and I don't work, it's all good. If I start work at 2:00 a.m., that is all good too.

I can't imagine a better job.

OLD-TIMER GEEK ALERT!

We are definitely in the "stumbled into it crowd". We actually started back in the old BBS days, before there was even a Web. We had been involved in BBSes continually since the early '80s. As I worked in the Aerospace & Defence industry, I was introduced to the "Internet" back around 1982, and my first e-mail address was from good old Compuserve. Back then we had to login to different systems to do different things, there was Usenet, ARPANET, and CSNET. In the late '80s, we in the Scientific and R&D communities started using the 'net for what it was meant for....trading Porn GIFs! (The boys at NASA had some of the best)

Okay, history lesson is over.....

"Wild Rose" was born on the BBS, with her own picture section and chat rooms. Of course, back then, all the images were downloadable GIFs. We did that for a couple of years, and then in early 1994, I started fooling around with web pages. HTML was just a derivative of a publishing language we used in aerospace, so I really had no learning curve. I started a site promoting "Swinging" that I think maybe 4 people ever saw (there was no one on the Web back then), and by early 1995, that became Carol's website exclusively, and very popular for it's time. This is before "Carol Cox" when Carol was still know as "Wild Rose", her old BBS name. As the site became larger, so did the hosting bill, and we needed a way to pay for it. So we made our first amateur home movie, and sold it via mail order on the 'net. That more than paid for the hosting bill, it paid for 2 new cars, and my huge home entertainment system! In early 1996, when the first click-through programs started, we were in the Top 10 over at Webcounter. Between the video sales and the ad revenue, we were grossing over $15K a month, and I was still working in Aerospace! I only worked on the website, one day a week, on Sunday afternoons. Carol handled the day to day customer service stuff (even Serge had our home phone number back then!).

By late summer 1996, we decided to build a members area for a pay site. We had lots of content, just not the time. I needed some help, so my old friend, and BBS buddy, Evil Chris stepped in to lend a hand. He had Web and HTML experience from doing his own sites, and was more than capable. We first had to finally get a domain name, and that's how the name "Carol Cox" was born. Just for the domain. Chris and I spent a couple of months building the new website, and the lay-out we developed back then is still in use by most Amateurs today. We finally launched the website members area in January of 1997, and did $20K worth of sales (at $9.95 each) in that first month (28 days)! I quit work on March 7th, 1997 when I realized I was losing money by going to work!

So, with us, nothing was really planned. It was just a matter of right place at the right time with the right product. What we did seemed to have a mind of its own, and took off with little help from us. The money we have made over the years paid for a lot of goodies, and we don't worry about money any longer. We say we are "semi-retired", but with an 8 year old still at home, I need to do something, so I still do this.

I, too, needed a job where I could work from home. Well, I have two basic skills: I can talk and I can write. I'd had phone sex just for S&G and decided to search the 'net looking for a place to get paid to do it. I ran across "Heather's Honeys" and sent her an e-mail. She hired me via email without ever hearing me speak. (Later she said "intelligent women just don't apply for this job" when I asked her why she hired me without ever hearing my voice.) She knew I was a writer and asked if I could write porn. I read some of her stories, then began to write my own. She brokered them for me. She had given me my nick and picked out a blonde to play me on the HH site. (My regulars used to refer to the model as "yanno, that blonde that's supposed to be you.") She designed my first erotica site and helped me into the business. I signed up with the C.O.N.D.O.M Project...and the rest is...even more wierd.

I started one of the first Internet radio stations in around 1995/6 - it was called Cyberville Radio and we made a 30 minute program every day of web site reviews and news etc. We had about 5,000 listeners.

To accompany the shows we put up links on our website to all the sites we reviewed. Naturally we reviewed some porn sites (there weren't all that many back then) and put links to them.

Within a couple of weeks we saw our radio show was still getting downloaded 5,000 times per day but our links were getting 50,000+ hits a day! And when we checked the logs, yep it was the porn links that the greater web had stumbled upon.

So I decided to hotlink some pics from Serge's site and concentrate on the porn. And the rest is history...

to which my response was:
if he doesn't stop, I'll repalce hot linked images with posters demanding the death of Her Majesty the Queen and full support of IRA,
a big "no-no" in UK

This was the beggining of the "beautiful friendship"! Robin and me did a few good things together with heavier wallets as a result

I had been writing erotic stories for my ex husband for years and I was writing forum letters for some smaller men's magazines when I got my first computer in 1997. I didn't know squat and was happy being the AOL cyber queen and trading stories with people. One of my traded stories ended up in the email of someone who had a story site and he asked me if he could post it. He did, but he never updated his sie and I wanted more of my stories to be read so I bought 3 books on HTML (I had no idea there were editors) and started on a Friday night, by Sunday night I had my first story site. I had no idea about making money from I just wanted the fame. It became so popular that AOL nuked it. One of my loyal fans told me about Porncity and free adult hosting.
That's where I learned about the business.

After I left my ex in '99 Lensman offered me a job as the Amateur Pages copywriter and things went on from there.
