Group Project Step 2A - for those that want text links

Ok, if you want to generate simple text links from remote thumbs, at this point, now that we have settings defined and a template working from those settings, we can create a custom template that will pull simple text links into the page.

You can also use custom templates to do custom positioning of thumbs, text, whatever you want.

The variables that can be utilized within a custom template are:

##thumb## = Thumbnail url ( gets replaced with /rtthumbs/100.jpg )
##url## = Gallery url ( gets replaced with http://c1.remotethumbs.com ... )
##thumbdim## = Thumbnail dimension (gets replaced with width="88" height="88" )
##target## = Url target (gets replaced with _self or _blank or _top )
##border## = Img border (gets replaced with 0 or 1 )
##whatfull## = Gallery type (gets replaced with Movies or Pictures )
##whatshort## = Gallery type (gets replaced with Movies or Pics)
##niche## = Gallery niche name (gets replaced with Anal or Blowjob etc)
##day## = Date / Day (gets replaced with 01, 02 etc
##dow## = Date / Day of week (gets replaced with Monday, Tuesday etc
##month## = Date / Month (gets replaced with 01, 02 etc
##monthfull## = Date / Month (gets replaced with January, Februari etc
##year## = Date / Year (gets replaced with 2004, 2005 etc
##randomnumber## = Randomnumber between 0 and 65535 (eg to build alttags)

For this part, I am only going to concern myself with getting a text link only page generated. Once you see how it works, you can go in and play around all over the place

We will use the url, niche, target and whatfull functions to produce the output we want.

The custom template will use the settings in the template you created to determine how many pictures, sizes, and niches to pull.

First, create the custom template:

1. Go to remotethumbs and login and all that
2. Click on the "Custom Templates" menu item
3. You will go to a template define screen.
4. Enter a name for your template
5. In the textbox provided enter your template code. In this case, we want to enter a standard html table that contains the same number of rows and columns as the template we defined earlier. So, for example I am using a template that calls for 10 rows of 7 pics each or 70 total pics. So, I need to accomodate those 70 thumbs in the template, in addition, if I call for more than 70 pics in my custom template I won't get them.

So the simplest form of the code to enter would look something like this:

and on and on and on to produce just a straight column of urls with text links.

We probably want this, as I said, in a table, so I am going to use a 7 column table with one data row. In each element, I am going to place a straight list of 10 urls, something like:

6. Once it is all entered, hit the save button.

7. Go to "My Templates"
8. Select Edit next to the template you created
9. Go down the page to custom template and pick the custom template you created from the drop down.
10. save the template
11. hit generate to generate and load the text only page to your server.
