I know that if I search for a few minutes I can find research that contradicts most of this. I can also find more that supports it. There is enough evidence on both sides of the debate on the question of whether global warming is occuring. Both sides have good points. To me, inconclusive.
"Greenhouse gases" have risen dramatically in the past 100 years and it seems it is pretty obvious that it is from humans. Much of this has been addressed with laws regarding CFCs and so on. Enough? Don't know. The thing about computational models is they are only as good as the data and the models themselves. How much do CO2 levels affect temperatures? Good question. Models have tended to overestimate the relationship. No one can even agree on what the initial data should be Satellite data? Meteorological office records? They contradict each other in some ways. There are many models with many contradictory predictions. It is the most extreme of them that make it to the news. The New York Times will cover the story about the new model that predicts a two foot rise in sea levels but won't cover the one that shows no change in the century. My opinion? Inconclusive.

Yeah I agree its inconclusive. But I like the fact there are people in the Pentagon making plans just in case. As you know I am a firm beleiver in Real Politik, if catostraphic things like this happened, we have to be prepaired to do what it takes to thrive.
